About the Role
Cake, a leading Vietnamese digital bank with a rapidly growing user base exceeding 6 million, is on a mission to become the NextGen AI Bank. We are seeking a Senior AI Engineer to drive the development of our generative AI capabilities, with a focus on large language models (LLMs), foundation models, and generative architectures. You will work across the full lifecycle — from researching and adapting foundation models to deploying scalable, reliable AI services in production for millions of users.

Key Responsibilities
- Research, build, and adapt LLMs, foundation models, and generative architectures for real-world banking applications.
- Explore and design model architectures and training approaches, pushing the boundaries of model performance and efficiency.
- Build pipelines for data preparation, training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and deployment of generative models at scale.
- Optimize models for latency, cost, and reliability in production, and monitor their performance over time.
- Ensure responsible AI practices — fairness, safety, and compliance with banking regulations.
- Collaborate with product, backend, data, and MLOps teams, and mentor junior engineers.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, NLP, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in AI/Machine Learning, with hands-on focus on LLMs, NLP, or generative models.
- Proven experience developing and deploying AI/ML models to production environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Python and modern deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face).
- Solid understanding of deep learning and transformer-based architectures, including training and fine-tuning of large models.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms and containerized deployment (preferably Google Cloud Platform).
- Influential publications at top-tier AI venues (NeurIPS, ICLR, ICML, ACL, CVPR, etc.) demonstrating strong research taste and technical depth.
- Strong problem-solving skills, a product-oriented mindset, and excellent cross-functional collaboration.
Nice-to-Have
- Pre-training or large-scale fine-tuning experience on foundation models.
- Familiarity with the latest advances in generative AI and a track record of quickly adopting emerging techniques.
- Notable open-source contributions to the generative AI ecosystem.
- Experience deploying generative AI in fintech or digital banking environments.
