Job Summary

The Seafreight Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all ocean freight operations to ensure service excellence, compliance, and customer satisfaction. This role requires strong leadership, customer engagement, and operational expertise to drive performance, optimize cost, and support continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Assign, plan, and supervise the execution of all ocean freight jobs to ensure timely and accurate service delivery.
  • Ensure full compliance with TOLL's Compliance and Code of Conduct policies.
  • Monitor and coach staff on the documentation and filing requirements for outbound shipments, including USA, Canada, Japan, and other destinations.
  • Drive the team to meet all Operational Excellence KPIs set by BPO, including AR Timeliness & Accuracy, AP Incomplete Post Day, WIP, Accrual, and Job Close targets.
  • Ensure maximum utilization of carrier space allocation and oversee space control management.
  • Review and approve job profit for each shipment, ensuring accurate billing and cost control.
  • Manage all Ocean team reporting requirements.

Customer & Stakeholder Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers to understand needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate with internal departments, local and overseas colleagues, and external partners to achieve seamless operations.
  • Communicate effectively across various levels and functions to foster collaboration and rapport.
  • Work closely with Legal on contract reviews, LOIs, and other required documentation.

Vendor & Carrier Management

  • Negotiate competitive rates with carriers and vendors to support business profitability.
  • Maintain healthy and strategic long-term relationships with service providers.

Performance & Financial Management

  • Drive the team to achieve productivity targets set in the TOLL system.
  • Achieve product volume and P&L performance targets.
  • Collaborate with Finance to meet Cash Flow KPIs, including DSO, DPO, CCC, and AR Overdue %.
  • Track, measure, and evaluate individual performance; provide feedback to improve overall efficiency and capability.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all operations adhere to company policies, standards, and safety procedures.
  • Submit monthly safety reports.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Management team, with a focus on operational excellence and compliance.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 57 years of experience in seafreight operations within international or multinational logistics companies.
  • Strong knowledge of international freight forwarding, ocean freight, and SeaAir services.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze data for decision-making.
  • Strong teamwork, leadership, and self-motivation.
  • Effective presentation skills using various digital tools and software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to handle multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • English proficiency at intermediate level or above (all 4 skills).
  • IMO/IMDG certification is an advantage.
  • Ability to work under pressure with a proactive, Can-Do attitude.
  • High accuracy and attention to detail.
