Job Description: Research Coordinator (Hanoi - Vietnam)
About Emotiv
Emotiv is a neurotechnology company building brain-computer interface hardware and software for research and consumer applications. Our EEG headsets are used by researchers, clinicians, and developers across more than 100 countries. This role sits within our Research team and contributes directly to a multi-year foundational research initiative.
About the Role
Emotiv is building a large-scale EEG dataset to support the development of a brain-computer interface foundation model. We are establishing a dedicated data collection panel at our Hanoi office and are looking for a technically-capable coordinator to run it day-to-day.
This is a hands-on role at an early stage. You will be joining as the program is getting off the ground, working through the full setup phase that includes equipment configuration, facility preparation, pilot sessions before transitioning into steady-state operations as the panel scales.
You will be responsible for setting up EEG recording equipment, running participants through structured experimental sessions, monitoring data quality in real time, and keeping the collection pipeline moving. The role requires someone who is comfortable working with technical hardware and software, organized enough to manage a high-throughput participant schedule, and careful enough to maintain rigorous data quality standards.
What You Will Do
● Set up and calibrate Emotiv EEG headsets for each session, including electrode preparation, impedance checking, and signal quality evaluation.
● Run participants through structured experimental protocols.
● Monitor EEG signal quality during sessions and troubleshoot hardware and software issues on the spot.
● Manage participant scheduling, registration, and per-session payments
● Maintain accurate session records: participant IDs, session completion status, data quality flags, and any protocol deviations.
● Coordinate with the logistics team on participant recruitment and facility management.
● Report data quality and session throughput metrics to the remote research team on a regular basis.
● Support iterative protocol improvements as the program scales.
What We Are Looking For
Required
● Technically inclined. Comfortable learning and operating unfamiliar hardware and software with minimal hand-holding
● Organized and reliable. Able to manage a repeating daily schedule across multiple participants and sessions
● Strong attention to detail. Data quality is the core output and errors in setup or logging undermine the entire program.
● Based in or able to work from Hanoi.
● English proficiency sufficient for written communication with the international research team.
Preferred
● Some Python programming or scripting background.
● Prior experience with EEG equipment, physiological recording, or neuroscience lab work.
● Experience with or genuine interest in wearable biosensors (including heart rate monitors, eye trackers, or similar devices) and how they are used in research contexts.
● Experience working in a research or clinical data collection environment.
What the Role Looks Like Day-to-Day
Sessions run approximately 2 hours each (20 minutes setup + 100 minutes recorded). At steady state the program targets 2 sessions per day, 5 days per week. The coordinator is responsible for all aspects of each session from room setup through data upload. The role is primarily operational, with increasing autonomy as you become familiar with the protocol and equipment.
