About the Role
- Strengthen the position of the company and its products with regulatory authorities, government bodies, and relevant medical communities in order to create a favourable and conducive environment for achieving business goals.
- Develop and implement regulatory strategies for product development in line with local business priorities.
- Provide a lobbying capability to support the delivery of the company's regulatory strategy and objectives.
- Effectively communicate research outcomes and opportunities to stakeholders, and develop appropriate claims for products.
- Develop scientifically credible, nutrition-related communication materials and ensure the accuracy and consistency of messages across all channels.
- Understand and assess the potential value that strategic science can deliver to the business, and report findings to internal stakeholders.
- Manage and be accountable for compliance matters.
- Provide crisis management counsel and support on regulatory issues and strategies across various departments, projects, and teams.
What You'll Do
Registration Process
- Provide scientific input to regulatory submission dossiers, including supporting materials that address potential queries, risk factors, and other issues.
- Anticipate and provide insight on internal and external risk factors in registration processes, and develop plans to address potential risks.
- Work with government regulatory officials and policy makers to supply scientific materials and information on up-to-date international standards and regulatory trends.
Strategy Development
- Build and implement scientific and regulatory strategies to influence and shape the regulatory environment.
- In close collaboration with the Regional Manager, identify the longer-term goals of the Vietnam business and develop and implement a strategic plan for Vietnam and the broader region.
- Build and maintain excellent relationships with external key stakeholders, including regulators and key opinion leaders (KOLs).
- Act as a conduit for local regulatory information to and from the Corporate Regulatory team.
Nutrition and Regulatory Competencies
- Ensure adequate resourcing and the development and training of nutrition and regulatory expertise within the Vietnam team.
- Monitor nutrition and regulatory issues that could threaten the business, and recommend strategic options to counteract these and support business growth.
- Provide training to staff on:
-General nutrition background and trends
-Product specifications
-Competitor analysis
- Actively participate in relevant nutritional, industry, and professional organisations.
Nutrition and Health Communications
- Ensure correct procedures are followed in the development of health messages for use on labelling, promotional materials, professional publications, and scientific reports.
- Develop labelling and claims options that mitigate risk while ensuring acceptance and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Best Practice
- Ensure the development and implementation of best practice and regulatory strategy processes within the Vietnam business.
- Tailor regional submissions on novel ingredients or health claim approvals to meet Vietnam-specific requirement
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related field (postgraduate preferred)
- Min 5-7 years of proven experience in regulatory affairs within the food, dairy, or FMCG industry in Vietnam
- Strong knowledge of Vietnamese food regulatory frameworks and familiarity with international standards (Codex, ASEAN, etc.)
- Experience engaging with government authorities and building stakeholder relationships
- Excellent scientific writing and communication skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate science into commercial opportunity
- Fluency in Vietnamese and English
