Overview:
We are looking for a Regulatory Compliance and Product Management Specialist to join our EdTech team. In this role, you will ensure our products meet legal and safety standards around the world. You'll work closely with product and engineering teams to make sure all our products are safe, properly certified, and ready for international markets.
Key Responsibilities:
Review the actual regulatory standards, delegated acts and guidance documentation.
- Be able to identify requirements pertaining to Ed Tech products
- Identify product impact to Ed Tech products
- Work with 3rd party lab to provide training and advisory services to Ed Tech regulatory team
- Work with TI legal team for information that needs guidance and direction
- Prepare and present high level presentation of new/updated regulations and product impact to management and team
- Organize info using available tools for clarify, brevity and easy to digest information
- Survey upcoming new/updated regulations in the industry through forums, news, webinars, etc.
Work with team to execute the requirements by the deadline
- Manage each regulatory project (setup regular meetings, identify open issues, generate schedule, milestones, action items, publish weekly notes, etc.)
- Work with team and suppliers to follow up on their action items, discuss issues, gaps, challenges
- Ensure we have compliant and organized documentation in place (sharepoint, supplier systems, etc.) and summary is available. This could be technical documentation, declaration of conformity, etc.
Product Certification
- Review request for certification renewal, updated regulation and new regulations needed for existing and new TI products
- Review certification cost with team and provide approval
- Review certification reports and discuss feedback with suppliers, Alex or Binu.
- Provide approval of certification reports to suppliers.
Regulatory Reporting (typically annual and for EU, Canada, US, or bi-annual)
- Document process for the different reporting process (battery, electronics, packaging, REACH, CMRT)
- Collect information for the reporting via business object reports, product info, etc.
- File report online and address any issues
Customer Requests (frequency varies but typically get a few every week)
- Review customer requests and identify how to address requests (product info, DoC, fill out a survey, etc.)
- Respond to customer requests and any follow up
What You Should Know or Have Experience In:
- Certifications for wireless products (e.g., WiFi, Bluetooth modules)
- Product safety standards (e.g., IEC 62368-1, CPSIA, Reese's Law)
- Battery and energy efficiency regulations (e.g., US DOE, EU Ecodesign)
- Chemical and environmental rules (e.g., RoHS, REACH, Prop 65, TSCA)
- Shipping regulations (e.g., IATA, IMDG)
- Global certifications (e.g., CE, FCC, IC, GMA)
- Packaging, labeling, and user manual compliance
- Extended Producer Responsibility (e.g., WEEE, battery, packaging)
Bonus Skills (Preferred):
- EMC/EMI/SAR/LVD testing
- Handling Safety Data Sheets (SDS/MSDS)
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, or RBA audits
- Managing incidents or product changes
- Familiar with platforms like WERCSmart or UL IQ
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in regulatory compliance or product stewardship
- Strong English communication skills, especially in writing technical documents
- Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
