The Opportunity

This is a pivotal role to lead and develop our geotechnics and tunnel team, supporting the delivery of major rail projects and strengthening our technical capability in the region. With the rapid growth of opportunities, this position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to transformative infrastructure initiatives. You will play a key role in securing and delivering a strong pipeline of projects while mentoring and developing a high-performing team.

Your Role

  • Responsible for the development, design and management of geotechnical inputs to large, complex multidisciplinary projects
  • Develop and implement longer term plans in line with the Arup business strategy. This includes the positioning of the business within the local marketplace.
  • Oversee both the current and future performance of the Geotechnical team, ensuring its positive impact on the firm.
  • Lead business development efforts, including securing new work, negotiating major contracts, and managing financial performance across designated areas.
  • Manage client relationships and represent Arup at a senior level both nationally and occasionally internationally.

Is this role right for you

  • Recognised tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, with post-graduate degree in Geotechnics preferred;
  • Demonstrated significant technical understanding of but not limited to:
  • Tunnelling
  • Excavations
  • Foundations
  • Slopes
  • Earthworks
  • Significant industry experience in the delivery of geotechnical design on large multi-disciplinary projects, within a consulting business environment;
  • Experience developing successful client relationships;
  • Experience leading teams on multi-disciplinary projects;
  • Experience in and passion for developing less experienced team members;
  • Membership of relevant professional institutions/professional peer bodies
  • Proven working knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice, and guidelines and Arup's related procedures including OH&S.
