Job Description

About Quantum AI & Cyber Security Institute (QACI)

The Quantum AI & Cyber Security Institute (QACI) was established by FPT Corporation with a long-term strategic vision to invest in foundational technologies, including Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, and Information Security.

QACI operates advanced research laboratories where interdisciplinary teams conduct academic research, technology experimentation, and applied solution development in parallel. Beyond research, the Institute actively promotes PhD training and strategic collaborations with academic and industry partners both locally and internationally—aiming to deliver scientifically rigorous outcomes with strong commercialization potential.

About Quantum Lab

Quantum Lab is a dedicated research and development unit under QACI, focused on advancing quantum technologies and translating research outcomes into practical, application-oriented technological assets.

The Lab specializes in quantum algorithms and cryptography, while also developing solutions to address critical challenges in industries such as finance, logistics, and cybersecurity. In parallel, Quantum Lab emphasizes building a high-quality research team and actively collaborates on international publications with partners from Japan, France, Singapore, and the United States.

Role Overview – Quantum Engineer

As a Quantum Engineer at FPT, you will:

  • Research, develop, and optimize quantum algorithms (Quantum Algorithms, Quantum Machine Learning – QML) and quantum circuits on NISQ hardware platforms.
  • Design and implement quantum security solutions (QKD, PQC) to protect information systems against emerging quantum threats.
  • Collaborate with AI and engineering teams to develop hybrid quantum–classical approaches, integrate Quantum ML into enterprise pipelines, and apply them to high-impact use cases.
  • Contribute to FPT's core technological capabilities through intellectual property, scientific publications, and transferable research outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct theoretical research and analysis of quantum algorithms, including complexity, quantum advantage, and feasibility on current and future hardware.
  • Design, implement, and evaluate quantum algorithms and models (Quantum Algorithms, QML) on simulators or NISQ hardware platforms.
  • Optimize quantum circuits through compilation, gate reduction, and circuit depth minimization; analyze noise effects and propose error mitigation strategies.
  • Develop hybrid quantum–classical methods, including pipeline design and efficient allocation of computational resources across CPU/GPU and QPU systems.
  • Research and implement quantum security solutions, including QKD system design and PQC integration.
  • Collaborate with FPT business units and external partners to identify and solve real-world challenges in finance, logistics, and cybersecurity.
  • Contribute to research team development by mentoring junior researchers and students, and sharing internal knowledge.
  • Engage with academic partners through joint publications, seminars, and workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Quantum Physics, Electronics & Telecommunications, Information Security/Cryptography, or related fields.
  • Preference for candidates with a background in quantum computing or cryptography.
  • Programming experience with at least one quantum framework (e.g., Qiskit, Cirq, PennyLane, QuTiP, or equivalent).
  • Strong research mindset, problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in quantum circuit optimization, compilation, noise modeling, error mitigation, and performance evaluation on NISQ systems.
  • Proficiency in developing hybrid quantum–classical models.
  • Knowledge or hands-on experience in quantum security (QKD, PQC, cryptographic security evaluation).
  • Track record of scientific publications or contributions to open-source quantum projects.

Benefits & Opportunities

  • Work on cutting-edge quantum computing technologies with real-world, product-level impact.
  • Research-driven environment bridging fundamental quantum theory and practical applications.
  • Collaboration with leading quantum scientists, technology experts, and industry partners.
  • Opportunities to pursue PhD programs through partnerships with top universities.
  • Engage in solving complex, high-impact problems across multiple industries using quantum technologies.
