Quality Assurance Quality Control Engineer
Shape the Future of AI Collaboration at a YC-Backed AI Hiring Startup
About Flowmingo
Flowmingo is a Y Combinator-backed startup building an AI-native hiring platform that helps companies evaluate far more candidates, more fairly, and with far less manual effort. Our platform brings AI interviews, CV evaluation, applicant tracking, and talent discovery into one system—designed to be accessible, scalable, and usable across devices and network conditions.
The Role
We are hiring a QA/QC Engineer to become the final gatekeeper of production quality at Flowmingo. You are the last line of defense before anything reaches production.
You will decide whether a release is truly ready. You will push back when the quality bar is not met. You will go deep into edge cases, system behavior, regressions, performance risks, and real user impact. If something breaks in production that should have been caught before release, you will help lead the quality investigation, close the gap, and make sure the same class of issue does not happen again.
We want someone who thinks like an owner, tests like an engineer, and treats production quality as a non-negotiable standard.
What You Will Own
Production Release Gatekeeping
- Own final QA/QC sign-off before releases go live
- Act as the quality gatekeeper for production deployments, ensuring only stable, verified changes are approved
- Push back confidently on releases that do not meet the required quality threshold
- Define release readiness criteria and enforce them consistently across teams
- Validate hotfixes, urgent patches, and rollback readiness when incidents occur
Deep Technical Testing
- Design and execute comprehensive test strategies across frontend, backend, API, database, and integration layers
- Build detailed test cases covering happy paths, edge cases, failure modes, and regression risks
- Perform end-to-end validation across core user journeys, especially where AI, scoring logic, video flows, and recruiter-facing workflows intersect
- Review PRs, requirements, and technical changes with a quality-first mindset to catch issues before they become production problems
- Verify bug fixes thoroughly, not just at surface level, but at root-cause level across related flows
Automation & Quality Engineering
- Build and maintain scalable automated test suites for regression, smoke, integration, and end-to-end testing
- Increase test coverage without slowing down product velocity
- Integrate automated quality checks into CI/CD pipelines so issues are caught earlier and more reliably
- Use modern AI tools aggressively to accelerate test generation, coverage analysis, bug reproduction, log review, and quality workflows
- Continuously improve QA productivity through better tooling, smarter automation, and faster feedback loops
Performance, Load & Reliability Validation
- Design and run stress, load, and performance tests for critical product flows
- Identify bottlenecks, reliability risks, concurrency issues, and degradation points before users feel them
- Partner with engineering to validate stability under scale, especially for high-volume workflows and production-like scenarios
- Test resilience under real-world conditions, including unstable networks, partial failures, and recovery behavior
Production Accountability & Continuous Improvement
- Own the quality feedback loop from staging to production
- When defects escape to production, help lead defect analysis, root-cause reviews, and preventive action plans
- Track recurring quality issues and drive permanent fixes, not temporary patches
- Raise the bar on testing discipline, release quality, and engineering accountability across the company
- Help build a culture where quality is engineered early, but verified rigorously before launch
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience in QA, QC, SDET, or quality engineering roles in software products
- Strong hands-on experience with both manual testing and test automation
- Strong understanding of API testing, integration testing, regression testing, end-to-end testing, and production release validation
- Experience with automation frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or equivalent
- Experience testing backend services, APIs, databases, and asynchronous workflows
- Familiarity with performance and load testing tools such as k6, JMeter, Locust, or similar
- Ability to read logs, inspect payloads, analyze system behavior, and collaborate deeply with engineers on technical root causes
- Comfortable reviewing PRs, requirements, and release candidates with an engineering mindset
- High ownership, strong judgment, and the confidence to block releases when quality is not where it needs to be
- A sharp eye for detail without losing sight of business impact and user experience
Strong Plus If You Have
- Experience testing AI products, LLM-driven workflows, scoring systems, or intelligent automation features
- Experience with CI/CD quality gates and release pipelines
- Experience in fast-moving startup environments where releases are frequent and standards must stay high
- Experience with observability tools, incident reviews, or post-release quality analysis
- Familiarity with HRTech, SaaS, workflow systems, or multi-sided platforms
Why This Role is Different
At Flowmingo, production quality is not a support function. It is a business-critical function.
You will protect the reliability of the platform that recruiters and candidates trust. You will have the authority to stop weak releases, the responsibility to uphold the production bar, and the opportunity to build a quality system that scales with the company.
- Compensation:25–35M VND/month (Gross), depending on experience, technical depth, and ownership of production quality.
- Massive Scale: We aren't building for a niche group. We are building for the millions of candidates currently ignored by the hiring system in the fastest-growing economies in the world.
- Real Technical Challenges: You will tackle unique challenges regarding bandwidth, device latency, and high concurrency that standard SaaS roles rarely encounter.
- Elite Peers: You will work alongside team members hailing from top institutions (YC, UPenn, NYU etc.).
- High Impact / Low Bureaucracy: We are a lean team. You won't be writing JIRA tickets for a month; you'll be shipping features that thousands of candidates use the next day.
- YC Network: As an early hire at a YC startup, you gain access to the most powerful startup network in the world.
Location / Work Style
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Application Process
Please fill out the form and submit your CV, a 30-minute AI interview will be sent afterwards. Completing the interview is mandatory. You can do it immediately or save the link for later, but early submissions receive priority processing.
- CV + AI Interview: We look for builders, not just maintainers.
- Technical Screen: A practical discussion on architecture and problem-solving (No whiteboard riddles).
- Culture Fit: Meeting the founders.
