Role Description
The Python Tech Lead – Healthcare RCM Automation role at Movate Technologies is a full-time, work-from-office position based in Bengaluru or Chennai, operating in the UK shift. We are looking for an experienced professional with 5–7 years of production-grade Python development experience to join a high-ownership engineering team building a greenfield Revenue Cycle Management Automation Platform for a healthcare provider.
The selected professional will contribute across backend platform services, healthcare EDI processing, data mapping, workflow orchestration, REST APIs, integrations, and operational user-interface components. The role requires end-to-end ownership of modules, from solution design and development through testing, documentation, deployment, and production handover.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain core platform services, including configuration management, logging, health checks, secrets management, metrics, monitoring, and telemetry.
- Build reliable processing pipelines with staged processing, retries, idempotency, dead-letter queues, and robust exception handling.
- Own assigned modules throughout the complete development lifecycle, including design, implementation, automated testing, documentation, deployment, and production handover.
- Develop healthcare EDI ingestion and processing capabilities for X12 835 Remittance Advice and X12 837 Healthcare Claims transactions.
- Parse EDI files into structured transaction models and validate ISA, GS, and ST envelopes.
- Develop resilient parsing logic to support companion-guide variations, normalization, payer-ID resolution, and CARC/RARC enrichment.
- Create configuration-driven mapping solutions to transform parsed transactions into standardized canonical data models.
- Implement secure file-processing workflows, including SFTP automation, PGP encryption, third-party integrations, retry mechanisms, and dead-letter handling.
- Design transaction lifecycle state machines, content-based routing, exception queues, escalation workflows, scheduled jobs, and event-driven orchestration components.
- Design and develop secure, scalable REST APIs using FastAPI or similar Python frameworks.
- Implement OAuth2/JWT authentication, role-based access control, API versioning, pagination, and schema validation.
- Contribute to operational UI components such as monitoring dashboards, transaction viewers, configuration screens, exception-management views, and audit logs.
- Write and maintain automated tests using tools such as Pytest and ensure that application logging follows PHI-safe practices.
- Participate in Agile activities, including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, reviews, backlog refinement, and cross-module interface discussions.
- Contribute to CI/CD implementation and support cloud-native deployments using Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
- Use AI-assisted development tools responsibly for boilerplate generation, test creation, code reviews, and development productivity while validating all domain-critical logic against requirements.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of professional experience in production-grade Python application development.
- Strong knowledge of Python programming, Object-Oriented Programming, typing, packaging, asynchronous I/O, and Pytest.
- Hands-on experience developing production REST APIs using FastAPI or a similar backend framework.
- Experience implementing OAuth2, JWT, RBAC, and Pydantic or comparable schema-validation technologies.
- Experience with message queues, retry patterns, idempotency, dead-letter queues, and high-volume batch or file-processing systems.
- Strong SQL skills, including schema design and query optimization.
- Practical experience with SFTP automation, PGP encryption, REST integrations, and third-party systems.
- Experience designing workflows, state machines, event-driven processes, and scheduled jobs using technologies such as Celery, APScheduler, or Cron.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, structured logging, metrics, monitoring, and alerting.
- Understanding of healthcare EDI transactions, particularly X12 835 and X12 837.
- Knowledge of ISA/GS/ST envelopes, loops, segments, TA1 acknowledgements, and 999 acknowledgements.
- Understanding of healthcare Revenue Cycle Management processes, including claims lifecycle, remittance posting, denial management, and clearinghouse integrations.
- Experience with healthcare EDI tools such as pyx12 or LinuxForHealth is preferred.
- Familiarity with modern SPA frameworks and experience building operational dashboards or data-heavy user interfaces is beneficial.
- Awareness of HIPAA requirements and appropriate handling of Protected Health Information.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Strong ownership, analytical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and communication skills.
- Ability to work across multiple technical modules in a lean and fast-paced engineering environment.
