We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a greenfield project in the footwear industry.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Project Manager
Department: Engineering
Location: Long Thanh, Dong Nai, Vietnam
Reports to: Head of Engineering & Projects and GM Asia (Expats)
To lead and manage engineering projects that support the technical development and expansion of our Vietnam site, focusing on complex and innovative initiatives. This includes overseeing the execution and delivery of engineering solutions by coordinating internal cross-functional teams, managing external contractors, and ensuring alignment with project goals. The project engineer will hold overall responsibility for the successful execution of assigned projects from concept
through to completion.
Key Accountabilities
1. Project Delivery & Technical Oversight
Take full ownership for the successful delivery of engineering projects, ensuring all equipment installations and associated activities meet technical, safety, and operational requirements.
2. Project Planning & Execution
Lead the execution of engineering tasks within agreed timelines and budgets, proactively reporting progress, risks, and deviations to the Head of Engineering Projects.
3. Engineering Management
Oversee day-to-day engineering activities across assigned projects, ensuring timely resolution of technical and project-related issues.
4. Compliance & Technical Governance
Ensure all engineering work adheres to relevant technical standards, project procedures, and regulatory requirements.
5. Budget & Schedule Control
Monitor and manage project budgets and schedules, ensuring milestones and financial targets are consistently achieved.
6. Change & Interface Management
Coordinate interface activities across disciplines and manage change control processes to minimize project risk and disruption.
7. Design & Safety Assurance
Actively participate in Design Reviews, HAZOPs, Risk Assessments, and other safety-critical evaluations to ensure robust and safe engineering solutions.
8. Project Support & Escalation
Provide technical and project execution support to the Head of Engineering Projects, contributing to the effective and timely delivery of all stages of the project lifecycle.
9. Stakeholder Engagement
Lead regular project reviews with internal and external stakeholders to track progress, resolve issues, and maintain alignment with project objectives.
10. Commissioning & Handover
Support operational teams during commissioning phases, including the identification and resolution of snagging items to ensure a smooth handover.
11. Project Close-out
Ensure projects are formally closed out in compliance with company procedures, including documentation, lessons learned, and financial reconciliation.
12. Commercial Oversight
Manage commercial aspects of the project, including capital budgeting, procurement strategies, tender evaluations, cost negotiations, and invoice approvals.
13. Regulatory & HSE Compliance
Enforce compliance with statutory regulations, internal engineering standards, and Health & Safety policies throughout the project lifecycle.
14. HSE Leadership
Champion a proactive Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) culture by exemplifying HSE principles and driving continuous improvement.
15. Cross-functional Collaboration
Collaborate with fellow project managers across the group to share best practices and ensure consistent project execution across the engineering portfolio.

Qualifications:
Degree/HND in an engineering related subject with good first hand knowledge of project environment.
Knowledge of project management methodologies and techniques
Practical knowledge of OHSE & Environmental legislation
Commercially aware of the cost impacts on decisions and proposals
Good technical knowledge and understanding
Good technical competence and understanding relating to M&E, plastics extrusion and injection moulding, pressure systems, automation and general engineering.
Experience
Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in engineering and project delivery, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, concurrent project workstreams, balancing priorities across scope, time, and budget.
Solid background in driving process improvement initiatives, with a focus on enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and equipment performance
Skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal with the ability to communicate complex technical information in a variety of forms to both technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to multitask and manage/reprioritise a complex diary with multiple simultaneous activities
Persuasive, influential, able to motivate and get results positive results from people.
