About The Role
We are looking for a
Senior Project Manager who can independently lead end-to-end delivery for banking and securities projects while acting as a trusted partner to clients throughout the engagement.
You will manage project scope, timelines, quality, vendors, subcontractors, and client communication across complex fintech engagements. The role requires close collaboration with engineering teams to validate estimates, identify delivery risks, align client expectations, and ensure commercially sustainable project outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Own delivery of assigned projects: scope control, schedule, budget, quality, and risk across multiple concurrent engagements.
- Evaluate technical resources assigned to projects: assess capability, provide structured feedback, and make resourcing recommendations to leadership.
- Work closely with technical teams to validate engineering estimates, identify delivery risks, and ensure proposed timelines are realistic.
- Define and clarify scope independently in mid-to-late project phases where requirements are ambiguous or evolving.
- Lead integration work with multiple external vendors, such as core banking providers, market data vendors, payment gateways, and cloud providers.
- Represent client interests when negotiating with vendors on pricing, SLAs, timelines, and funding programs such as AWS support.
- Manage subcontractors: selection, onboarding, performance monitoring, and invoices.
- Run regular client governance meetings covering status updates, escalations, acceptance criteria, and UAT at CTO/PMO level.
- Produce and maintain project artefacts: plans, RAID logs, integration specifications, and cutover plans.
- Ensure compliance with client security and regulatory requirements relevant to banking and securities.
- Control scope changes and raise risks early to maintain delivery quality and project sustainability.
Requirements
- 7+ years of experience in IT project management.
- Experience delivering at least 2 software projects for banks or securities firms.
- Working knowledge of financial products or operations, such as lending, payments, trading, or securities.
- Experience working with software development teams and participating in estimation or roadmap discussions.
- Sufficient technical understanding to follow engineering discussions, identify risks, and assess whether timelines are realistic.
- Experience managing multi-vendor integrations and working with vendors on scope, SLA, timeline, or commercial discussions.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work independently with bank CTOs and PMOs.
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall delivery approaches.
- Experience managing subcontractors or remote teams.
- Native Vietnamese and business-level English.
- Strong awareness of information security, including customer data protection and compliance requirements in banking/securities environments.
- Ability to identify information security risks at the project level, especially when working with multiple vendors, integrated systems, and sensitive data.
- Demonstrates adherence to, and promotes team compliance with, processes related to information classification, incident reporting, and project document control.
Nice to Have
- Certifications such as PMP, Prince2, or Certified Scrum Master.
- Background in securities trading operations, FIX protocol, or core banking platforms.
- Prior experience with AWS commercial programs and cloud migration projects.
- Experience building or working alongside AI or automation development teams.
What Makes You Successful In This Role
- Client-first mindset with strong commercial judgment.
- Ability to balance client value with realistic and sustainable delivery commitments.
- Comfortable making decisions in ambiguous situations.
- Strong prioritization and escalation skills.
- Pragmatic, negotiation-oriented, and detail-focused.
- Ability to balance relationship management with delivery discipline.
Success Metrics in the First 6 Months
- Successfully hand over and stabilize delivery for at least 1 large integration project with agreed timeline and quality expectations.
- Drive vendor negotiations that help reduce client costs or secure additional support, with clear documentation of outcomes.
- Keep scope creep caused by missed requirements below 5%.
- Maintain positive client satisfaction results in line with target CSAT.
- Maintain clear scope control and sustainable delivery across assigned projects.
