BASIC PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

The purpose of this position is to manage SEA packaging projects. Coordinate with SEA suppliers and all related HELE functional teams to make sure packaging can meet quality requirements, cost and schedule. The ideal candidate will be a technical expert in packaging & printing quality management, packaging structures & materials, and production processes; be capable of project management and trouble shoot of packaging test and quality issue; and have rich knowledge and experience of sustainable packaging for EPR (Extended Producer Responsibility) execution. You will be responsible for developing local packaging in SEA with same visually appealing, robust quality, cost-effective, and sustainable as China. Your ability to analyze root causes of failure data, solve problems of packaging test and quality, and manage consistency of printing color quality will be key to your success in this role.

Core Accountabilities:

  • Oversee SEA packaging development to ensure quality compliance and on-time project delivery.
  • Manage approval of all SEA packaging samples (pre-production & mass production), guaranteeing color accuracy/consistency with brand standards via Standard PMS chips, Pantone libraries, digital proofs, and spectrophotometer operation.
  • Develop and execute corrective/preventive actions to address packaging performance issues.
  • Coordinate and oversee packaging testing (e.g., drop, vibration, compression, aging tests) to ensure compliance with internal standards and industry benchmarks (e.g. ISTA).
  • Analyze and interpret test results to pinpoint failure points and identify their root causes, drive suppliers to pass packaging test.
  • Work with suppliers for EPR Packaging localization with consistent quality and meet packaging test requirement.
  • Source and evaluate new materials/suppliers, prioritizing sustainability, quality, and cost-effectiveness to meet business needs.
  • Support preliminary design concept reviews and conduct feasibility studies to ensure designs are manufacturable and align with cost targets.
  • Deliver technical packaging support to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Manage timely, accurate packaging-related information flows across all relevant parties (e.g., Marketing, Product Development, Quality Assurance, Supply Chain).
  • Train and coach SEA suppliers on proper adherence to packaging requirements and guidelines.
  • Monitor suppliers compliance with HELE packaging requirements/guidelines during project execution and promptly correct any non-conforming practices.

Education, Qualification and training

  • Technical school graduate / bachelor's degree in Packaging, Printing, graphic design or related discipline
  • Good knowledge of packaging design and printing (pre-press, printing & post-press).

Experience or skills required

  • Min 5 years relevant working experience in Packaging or Printing industry.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of packaging, printing, manufacturing processes and packaging test standards. Familiar with print production and color management principles.
  • Solid experience in artwork trouble shooting, quality control and packaging structural design. Demonstrated experience in reviewing packaging test results and implementing improvement solutions.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office software, with knowledge of design Software (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.) is an advantage.
  • Good in written English and can communicate in spoken English. Good command in Chinese / Mandarin is preferred.
  • Effective communication with oversea party and factories.
  • Detail orientation, responsibility, proactive attitude and be organized.

Specialized knowledge or skills required

  • Solid experience in retail packaging is preferred.
  • Packaging knowledge in end-to-end development chain.
  • Good communication skills.
