The Project Engineering Manager / Solar MEP Engineer (Lead) is responsible for leading, managing, and optimizing all technical aspects of solar EPC projects (Rooftop, C&I, Industrial) throughout the entire project lifecycle, from site survey, design, BOQ, procurement, construction, commissioning, acceptance, to handover and operation. This is a key position in SolarBK's growth strategy, acting as the technical focal point to ensure that all engineering solutions are technically compliant, constructible, cost-optimized, safe, and operationally efficient.
1. Technical Management Design Review & Optimization
- Review, approve, and optimize basic and shop drawing technical designs for solar projects, ensuring suitability for site conditions and customer requirements.
- Ensure MEP system integrity, including cable routing, grounding systems, cable sizing, inverter and electrical panel layout, mounting structures, conduits, and cable trays.
- Analyze and continuously improve technical solutions in line with market trends and emerging technologies. BOQ & Cost Control
- Prepare, review, and optimize BOQs, ensuring cost efficiency while meeting technical standards. - Analyze actual construction data (materials, manpower, costs) to improve estimation methods and BOQ contingency buffers.
- Take ownership of technical cost optimization across projects. Construction Drawings & Documentation Finalize MEP construction drawings, shop drawings, and installation guidelines.
- Ensure designs are constructible, practical, and aligned with project budgets.
- Coordinate closely with Procurement and Construction teams to align design with execution
2. MEP Engineer Core Responsibilities
- Review and approve MEP construction methods and technical submissions from contractors.
- Coordinate and resolve MEP – Civil – Electrical clashes during design and construction phases.
- Participate in technical inspections, FAT/SAT (if applicable), commissioning, and system handover.
- Ensure compliance with technical standards, safety regulations, and fire protection requirements related to MEP works.
- Provide technical support during initial operation and maintenance phases.
3. Cross-functional Coordination & Client Interface
- Work closely with Sales / Business Development teams to assess technical and commercial feasibility of projects. - Coordinate with Procurement & Supply Chain on material evaluation.
- Support Finance in budgeting, cost control, and project financial performance evaluation.
- Present and defend technical solutions to clients and partners in Vietnamese and English.
4. Leadership & Process Improvement
- Lead and manage the engineering and project teams (design engineers, site engineers, supervisors, QA/QC).
- Coach, mentor, and evaluate technical team members.
- Capture lessons learned and propose improvements to EPC processes and technical standards.
- Contribute to the development of job descriptions and job scorecards for technical roles.
- Ensure compliance with the company's quality management system and proper project documentation storage.
5. Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all project activities comply with Vietnamese laws and regulations, renewable energy industry standards, and SolarBK internal procedures.
- Identify and manage project risks, implementing preventive and corrective actions proactively.
- Ensure strict compliance with HSE, occupational safety, and fire protection requirements throughout project execution.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Education
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, MEP, Renewable Energy, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, or related technical fields.
2. Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in solar PV / renewable energy or similar EPC projects.
- Proven experience in technical project management, including design, construction, and commissioning.
- Strong understanding of PV standards, electrical systems, industrial safety, and EPC workflows.
3. Technical Skills
- Proficient in MS Office, AutoCAD, and relevant design or project management tools (MS Project, Asana, Primavera, etc.).
- Strong capability in project planning, schedule control, cost control, and resource management.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, BOQs, and technical standards. - PMP or equivalent certification is a strong advantage.
4. Soft Skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder coordination capability.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Good English communication skills, especially for technical discussions.
