Job Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the production process, ensuring efficient operations, high-quality output, and strict adherence to food safety and occupational health and safety standards. This role involves leading, training, and motivating production personnel, managing resources, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives to meet production targets and company objectives.

Production & Operations Management:

  • Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of production personnel to ensure effective workflow and compliance with production schedules and company policies.
  • Meet receiving, production, and shipping plans, ensuring timely delivery and optimal resource utilization.
  • Monitor steps of the process, set processing variables, and implement cost reduction strategies to maintain efficient workflow.
  • Prepare and submit accurate production reports (shiftly, weekly, monthly).
  • Identify and implement small or major improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency.
  • Report downtime and any plant problems immediately to superiors, including issues related to productivity, output, and workload.

Quality & Food Safety:

  • Ensure all products meet established quality and food safety standards.
  • Enforce strict adherence to entry/exit hygiene protocols and safe food handling practices.
  • Ensure proper storage, preparation, and handling of materials to prevent contamination (e.g., cross-contamination, allergen contamination, pest infestation).
  • Implement measures to separate fumigated and unfumigated material.
  • Ensure the area is well-maintained and cleaning frequencies for machines and facilities are adhered to (Good Manufacturing Practices - GMP).
  • Ensure compliance with local and international food safety laws and guidelines.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on the use of all control points and equipment.
  • Ensure full compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and company safety policies at all lines.
  • Conduct workplace inspections regularly, perform risk assessments for new equipment/processes, and periodically review existing risk assessments, taking corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of machinery and tools.
  • Train staff in emergency response procedures, including Fire Fighting & First Aid.
  • Document and report all unsafe acts/conditions (UA/UC), near misses, and incidents.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Supervise, train, and instruct new employees effectively on production processes.
  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data, investigating issues, identifying solutions, and recommending action.
  • Develop and maintain effective relations with all company employees at various levels of the organization.

Qualification, Competencies Requirements

Education: Graduated from College or University majoring in Food Technology, Chemistry, Biology, Agriculture, or related field.

Experience: 3 years of experience in a similar position in manufacturing companies.

Key Technical Competencies 

Have knowledge of food hygiene and safety, production process

Proven experience in a similar role

Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools.

Planning and conducting of audits.

Key Behavioral/ Leadership Competencies

Good management skills & management of staff.

Strong problem-solving skills, analytic ability, and very detail oriented.

Organizational and leadership abilities

Other competencies:

Working well with many different departments and external suppliers.

Self-motivated with a results-driven approach. 

English skills: Read, Write & Speak

Proficient with Microsoft skills tools

Time management skills
