Job Description

Position Summary

The Production Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our production floor. This individual will ensure that manufacturing processes run reliably, efficiently, and safely, while meeting production targets, quality standards, and budgetary requirements. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of production principles.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Management:

  • Plan, organize, and direct manufacturing activities to meet daily, weekly, and monthly production goals.
  • Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring optimal use of resources (manpower, equipment, materials).
  • Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed to accommodate changes, delays, or urgent orders.
  • Oversee the procurement and inventory of raw materials and supplies to prevent shortages and minimize waste.

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of production supervisors, team leaders, and line workers.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development needs.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment.
  • Manage staffing, including recruitment, onboarding, and scheduling.

Quality Assurance & Compliance:

  • Ensure all products meet established quality specifications and standards.
  • Implement and enforce strict quality control checks throughout the production process.
  • Ensure all operations comply with company policies and industry regulations (e.g., OSHA, GMP, ISO).
  • Champion a culture of safety by enforcing protocols, conducting regular audits, and leading safety meetings.

Continuous Improvement & Cost Control:

  • Analyze production data, identify inefficiencies, and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Manage the production budget and control operational costs without compromising quality or safety.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of production equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Lead or participate in Lean Manufacturing, 5S, or Six Sigma initiatives.

Reporting & Communication:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on production metrics, including output, efficiency, downtime, and quality.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments, including Procurement, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Sales, and Logistics.

Qualifications & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in operations management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (at least 10+ years) in production management or supervisory role within a manufacturing
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production and manufacturing processes, including Lean principles.
  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Proficiency with production management software (ERP/MRPsystems) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with [mention specific software, e.g., SAP, Oracle].
  • Certification in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) or Project Management (PMP).
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
  • Experience in a unionized environment.

Working Conditions
