Job Description

The Product Engineer is an experienced electronics engineer with strong product understanding and hands-on manufacturing experience in an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) environment. The role is responsible for reviewing customer technical data, identifying DFM/DFT and manufacturing risks, leading technical readiness for NPI (EVT, DVT, PVT, MP), resolving product issues, and maintaining technical ownership throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze customer technical documents (BOM, AML/AVL, schematic, PCB/Gerber, mechanical drawing, specifications, and assembly requirements) to ensure completeness and manufacturability.

• Identify DFM/DFA/DFT and manufacturing risks before mass production; propose corrective actions and design/process improvements.

• Lead technical readiness activities for NPI programs (EVT, DVT, PVT) through MP release; define required technical activities, deliverables, and readiness requirements.

• Support engineering/pilot builds and production ramp-up; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues arising during trial and mass production.

• Review and evaluate Engineering Changes (ECO/ECN/MCO/DCO); assess impact on material, process, tooling, testing, and quality, and coordinate implementation.

• Develop and review test coverage, test specifications, and test fixtures; lead failure analysis and root cause investigation for product-related issues.

• Lead technical discussions and coordinate cross-functionally with IE, Test, QA, SCM, and Production to resolve product and process issues.

• Act as the technical focal point with customers on product-related technical matters (BOM, ECN, DFM/DFT, test requirements), including direct on-site discussions when customers visit the factory; commercial matters such as pricing and lead time are handled by the Project Manager.

• Proactively clarify missing or unclear technical information or requirements with customers and internal teams.

• Maintain technical ownership of assigned products throughout the product lifecycle, from NPI through MP and sustaining production.

• Document and maintain technical records, risk assessments, and change logs related to product and process.

• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical – Electronics Engineering, Electronics – Telecommunications, Mechatronics, Automation, or a related technical field.

• Experience: 3–5+ years of experience in electronics manufacturing/EMS, with hands-on experience in Product Engineering/NPI across NPI and MP stages.

• English communication: Good English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking) to review technical documents and directly discuss with customers, including on-site discussions.
