The Product Development Manager takes full ownership of the product development lifecycle — from concept through design, testing, production, and market launch — ensuring timelines, quality, and commercial effectiveness are met at every stage.
Key Responsibilities
Product Development
- Lead concept ideation through to production sign-off across all collections
- Manage sampling, prototyping, fit reviews, and design iteration cycles
- Coordinate cross-functional teams: design, sourcing, QA, and merchandising
Cost & Budget Management
- Prepare product cost estimates (BOM, CMT, overheads) and manage project budgets
- Identify cost optimization opportunities throughout the development process
- Track spend vs. plan and report variances to leadership
Quality & Technical Standards
- Define and enforce quality standards, technical guidelines, and construction specifications
- Create and maintain tech packs and product documentation
- Ensure consistency across seasons and collections
Timeline & Launch
- Build and manage critical path schedules from brief to market launch
- Anticipate risks, implement contingency plans, and ensure on-time delivery
Supplier & Sourcing
- Manage relationships with manufacturers and suppliers; evaluate capabilities and negotiate terms
- Drive sourcing strategies aligned with cost, quality, and compliance targets
Requirements
- 7–10+ years in product development in fashion, retail, or O2O commerce
- Proven experience managing full development cycles, budgets, and supplier relationships
- Strong project management, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills
- Detail-oriented with high standards for quality and documentation
- Proficiency in PLM tools; adaptable in a fast-paced, seasonal environment
