Job Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a highly disciplined, process-driven Product Design Manager to lead, scale, and inspire our growing team of Product Designers and UX Writers (currently 20+ members). In this role, you will be the driving force behind our design velocity, consistency, and execution. This is a role for a practitioner-leader: while you won't be doing day-to-day pixel-pushing, you must possess the deep, hands-on technical mastery required to review files and unblock your team. You will bridge the gap between design and enterprise-level development while partnering with international expertise to integrate the latest AI toolsets, supercharge team efficiency, and elevate our experience metrics.

Job Descriptions:

1. Team Leadership & Talent Growth

  • Directly manage, mentor, and elevate a high-performing team of 20+ product designers and UX writers
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning, professional growth, and strong accountability
  • Actively coach team members on their craft, career paths, and soft skills to build the next generation of design leaders
  • Partner closely with an onsite Expat Specialist who directly drives skill development and new tool evaluation; you will augment this mentorship within the team, ensuring knowledge is effectively transferred, while mutually aligning on toolset evaluations to bring top-tier capabilities to the local team.

2. Design Operations & Velocity Optimization

  • Drive delivery velocity by optimizing end-to-end design processes, workflows, and tool utilization.
  • Enforce daily rigor, operational discipline, and strict consistency across all design outputs
  • Collaborate closely with our Design System Lead to drive the necessary updates and evolution of our enterprise Figma Design Systems, ensuring they seamlessly support the product design team's needs
  • Own and streamline the design-to development (Design-to-Dev) handoff process at an enterprise scale, ensuring zero friction with engineering teams

3. AI Integration & Experience Metrics

  • Stay ahead of the market by actively researching and implementing emerging AI toolsets to optimize the team's workflow and output quality, in mutual alignment with our Expat Specialist
  • Establish, track, and optimize key experience metrics to prove the business value and user impact of design interventions

4. Hands-on Quality Governance

  • Maintain a flexible, problem-solving mindset to balance business constraints with user needs
  • Utilize your deep practical expertise to conduct rigorous design reviews, deeply understanding the technical weeds of Figma to guide the team effectively

5. Tactical & Daily Responsibilities

  • Manage incoming design requests from various business units (mostly from Product Owners, but some may come directly from marketing or other business teams). Prioritize tasks and assign them to the appropriate Senior Designers within a mini-Agile team framework
  • Senior Designers currently hold specialized product knowledge. Your goal is to leverage this expertise while cross-training the team. As new business units are added, individual product specialization may decrease, but the team's core UX/UI skills, user journey mapping, and critical thinking will grow
  • Form mini-Agile teams around specific projects. Because team members will work on multiple projects with different Senior Designers, strong project management skills are essential. Manage outsourced resources allocated to Senior Designers. Know the exact status of all projects at any given time to answer stakeholders confidently
  • Conduct hands-on design reviews and provide constructive feedback to help team members grow. Establish highly effective daily workflows and reporting structures. Provide weekly reports on team utilization, capacity, and current challenges
  • Provide weekly guidance and feedback to the single expat expert. Direct their focus toward mentoring the team, improving toolset skills, and upgrading design thinking. Ensure they have clearly aligned, actionable outcomes to work toward each week while addressing any team issues
  • Manage the content writers who support multiple languages. These writers serve in a supporting role within the mini-Agile teams. They possess broad product knowledge and add value by bringing critical thinking to the process

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 7+ years of credible experience in UX/UI product design, with a proven track record in a dedicated people management/leadership role. Demonstrated experience directly managing design teams of at least 10+ members (including experience managing UX/Product Writers)
  • Advanced, hands-on expertise in Figma and collaborating on complex Design Systems at scale. Deep understanding of enterprise-level product development lifecycles and highly optimized Design-to-Dev handoffs
  • Strong familiarity with the evolving AI landscape in design tools. Proven ability to collaborate with foreign experts/expats and cross functional leads to evaluate technologies and upskill local teams. Exceptional adaptability and a flexible mindset. A strong believer in daily rigor, operational discipline, and consistency as the foundation of speed
  • Vietnamese local national with flawless native Vietnamese and professional/fluent English communication skills (both written and verbal)
