Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Process Engineering Manager.In this role, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement, optimizing production processes, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and efficiency. You will provide technical leadership, manage capital projects, and mentor a team of talented engineers. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a proven track record of delivering results in a complex manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of process engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Manage team workload, assign projects, and set clear performance objectives.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support career development plans.
- Recruit, onboard, and train new engineering staff.
2. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement:
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Identify, prioritize, and lead projects aimed at improving yield, reducing cost, enhancing product quality, and increasing throughput.
- Analyze process data and performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities for optimization.
- Implement and standardize best practices across all production lines.
3. Technical & Engineering Excellence:
- Provide technical guidance and oversight for complex process-related issues and troubleshooting.
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of new processes and equipment for new product introductions (NPI) and capacity expansion.
- Own the Process Safety Management (PSM) program elements, including Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR).
- Ensure all processes adhere to relevant industry standards, GMP, and regulatory requirements (e.g., FDA, EPA, OSHA).
4. Project Management:
- Manage capital projects from conception to completion, including scope definition, budgeting, scheduling, and execution.
- Develop and justify business cases for capital expenditures (CAPEX).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and R&D to ensure project success.
5. Safety & Compliance:
- Champion a Safety First culture, ensuring all process designs and modifications prioritize operator and environmental safety.
- Ensure all processes and team activities comply with company policies and governmental regulations.
- Lead incident investigations related to process safety and quality.
Qualifications & Experience
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in process engineering within a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in direct leadership or management role.
- Proven experience with Continuous Improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification is a strong plus).
- Strong project management skills with a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget.
- In-depth knowledge of Process Safety Management (PSM) principles.
Preferred:
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle or data analysis software (e.g., Minitab, PI System).
- Experience with scaling processes from lab to pilot plant to full-scale production.
