Principal Tooling Engineer (Injection molding, Die casting)

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze engineering drawings (GD&T) and provide improvement recommendations on structure and tolerances.
• Develop manufacturing processes, including fixture design and tooling selection.
• Manage die casting processes (high/low pressure, semi-solid) from mold setup to post-processing.
• Apply metallurgy knowledge to optimize material performance (Al, Zn, Mg alloys).
• Select appropriate materials based on mechanical properties, cost, and application.
• Design and optimize molds for filling, venting, and ejection; coordinate with mold makers.
• Use CAD/CAM tools (e.g., SolidWorks, UG, Pro/E) for design and modification.
• Perform simulations (e.g., Flow-3D, Magmasoft) to improve casting quality.
• Identify and resolve defects (porosity, shrinkage, surface issues) and implement corrective actions.
• Optimize process parameters (temperature, pressure, cycle time) for efficiency and quality.
• Provide technical support and troubleshoot tooling issues in production.
• Improve tooling performance and ensure high-quality output.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly.
• Plan, schedule, and document projects to ensure timely delivery.
• Conduct root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work in a fast-paced environment with a proactive mindset.

Requirements

• Diploma or above in Tooling / Mechanical / Manufacturing Engineering.
• 4–6 years of experience in Die casting or Tooling in manufacturing industry
• Strong knowledge of die casting and/or injection molding processes.
• Experience in tooling for injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, or stamping is a plus.
• Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
• Team player with strong ownership and can-do attitude.
