We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join Agentic Layer Juno, our core AI Platform project. Juno is the foundation for AI capabilities across our products - powering agentic workflows, LLM integrations, and intelligent automation that other teams build on.
As a Principal Engineer, you will shape the architecture and technical direction of the platform from its early stages. You'll design scalable, production-grade backend systems, drive key decisions around agent orchestration, LLM integration, and platform reliability, and set engineering standards that will carry the platform as it grows.
TEAM SCOPE
- The AI Platform team owns Agentic Layer Juno — the central foundation for AI capabilities across our products
YOUR EXCITING TASKS
- Own the technical vision and architecture of the AI platform - agent orchestration, LLM integration layers, tool/MCP integrations, and the APIs other teams build on
- Make and document high-impact architectural decisions, navigating trade-offs between velocity, cost, reliability, and flexibility (e.g. model choice, orchestration patterns)
- Design the platform for multi-tenancy, extensibility, and scale so product teams can adopt AI capabilities without reinventing the foundation
- Keep the platform ahead of a fast-moving AI landscape: evaluate new models, frameworks, and patterns, and decide what's worth adopting
- Build production-grade backend services and platform components - this is a coding role, not a pure architect role
- Develop core capabilities like agent workflows, RAG pipelines, vector search, context management, and safe tool execution
- Set the bar for engineering quality: testing strategies for non-deterministic AI systems, evals, CI/CD, and code review culture
YOUR PROFILE AND YOUR PERSONALITY
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including experience in architect, or technical leadership role
- Deep expertise in C# and a proven track record of building scalable, production-grade backend systems and APIs
- Hands-on experience building and deploying AI-powered applications, including agentic systems, LLM integrations, RAG, and vector search
- Experience designing and operating distributed, cloud-native systems with a strong focus on scalability, reliability, and performance
- Solid understanding of software architecture, observability, security, and operational excellence in production environment
- Comfortable evaluating new technologies, navigating architectural trade-offs, and making sound technical decisions
- Design and build multi-agent orchestration systems using frameworks such as LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, AutoGen, MAF, Semantic Kernel, or custom orchestration layers
- Solid experience working with Azure or other cloud environments
- An effective communicator and technical leader who enjoys mentoring engineers, driving engineering standards, and collaborating across teams
Nice To Have
- Experience taking agentic or LLM-based systems from prototype to production at scale (cost control, latency optimization, guardrails)
- Familiarity with AI evaluation and quality frameworks - building evals, monitoring model drift, measuring agent success rates
- Hands-on experience with orchestration frameworks (e.g. Semantic Kernel, LangGraph, or custom-built) and tool-calling / MCP-style integrations
- Experience with prompt engineering at scale, fine-tuning, or model selection trade-offs across providers
- Experience in a scale-up environment where they shaped engineering practices as the org grew
