Rainscales develops an AI platform that integrates thousands of cameras to monitor safety and security issues. Our systems process video at scale across cloud and on-premise environments, combining computer vision, edge computing, and real-time streaming to deliver actionable insight to enterprise customers.
We are looking for a Middle DevOps Engineer to help build, operate, and improve the infrastructure and delivery platform behind this product. This is a hands-on role covering Kubernetes operations, CI/CD automation, observability, and platform security, with clear ownership of your own workstreams.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Operate, maintain, and optimize Kubernetes (K8s) clusters across production and nonproduction environments.
- Develop and manage Helm charts; deploy and support multi-tenant applications.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, improving deployment automation, rollback processes, and environment consistency.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, keeping environments reproducible and reviewable.
- Design and operate centralized monitoring and logging across the entire system - AWS cloud, bare-metal servers, and edge deployments at customer sites — using tools such as Prometheus and Grafana; define useful alerts and dashboards.
- Participate in incident response — troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and follow-up remediation for production issues.
- Apply security best practices across the platform: secrets management, RBAC, network policies, and VPN operation and management.
- Automate repetitive operational tasks with scripting to reduce manual work and improve developer self-service.
- Write and maintain runbooks, operational guidelines, and platform documentation.
- Collaborate with software and AI engineering teams to improve developer experience and operational standards.
- Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate infrastructure automation, troubleshooting, and documentation.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Must have:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, SRE, or related roles.
- Hands-on experience with a cloud platform (AWS preferred; EKS experience is a strong plus).
- Strong hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized workloads in production.
- Strong experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or ArgoCD.
- Working knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform. Strong Linux system administration, networking fundamentals, and troubleshooting skills.
- Scripting ability in Bash or Python to automate operational tasks.
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Loki, or equivalent).
- Understanding of platform security basics: IAM, least-privilege access, secrets management, and RBAC.
- Ability to work through problems methodically, ask for help when needed, and communicate progress and risks clearly.
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with security tooling: image scanning, SAST/SCA, or IaC scanning.
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor,
- Claude Code) in daily workflows.
