Main purpose of the role:
- Strategic results: Drive strategic & tactical decisions, including production improvement initiatives roadmap and align resources to deliver key functional objectives in alignment with TU strategic goals
- Best-in-class manufacturing: Oversee and create best-in-class Ambient production, ensure high standards of operations and adoption of best-practices across all plant functions
- Financial results: Own and manage end-to-end performance, optimize for cost while maintaining effective production, on-time delivery at right quantity of goods with high quality standards
- Effective collaboration: Facilitate collaboration across functional heads for critical activities; take accountability and ensure effective coordination between operational functions (Production, Maintenance, Quality, etc.) and all supporting functions (Logistics, Purchasing, etc.)
- People & leadership: Motivate, lead and challenge team members to reach / exceed targets and objectives. Improve and sustain employee engagement scores to be within the top quartile. Develop strong internal leadership pipeline and set positive working culture with teams across Thai Union
Key accountabilities:
Set strategic direction
- Provide inputs to budget planning, production strategic / productivity roadmap and KPI targets across plant
- Translate company goals and productivity roadmap into tangible actions / metrics
- Provide inputs and approve policies, procedures, and manuals relevant to manufacturing processes
- Liaise with other cross-functional management teams to ensure alignment and effective collaboration between Operations (Production, Maintenance, etc.) and supporting functions (Logistics, Purchasing, etc.)
Define standards and manuals
- Ensure implementation of best practices across operations functions to deliver best-in-class performance
- Enforce environment, health and safety in manufacturing at all time
- Review and discuss performance variance against KPI targets with key stakeholders and ensure corrective actions are taken in timely manner
Production & Production Excellence:
- Ensure production processes, parameters, and procedures are accurate and strictly followed to maintain high standard of operations; ensure consistency across production lines
- Manage shop-floor operations and ensure highest quality products, on-time delivery and lowest possible cost
- Support implementation and execution of production strategic / productivity roadmap, and relevant company strategies / initiatives
- Recommend and implement changes to support productivity, KPI, and continuous improvement
Effective maintenance:
- Implement changes related to production machines / equipment / tools and utilities to improve manufacturing capabilities and quality and / or be compliant with applicable standards
- Oversee planned maintenance, repairs and overhauls across production areas, utilities, civil & facilities
- Oversee coordination with external vendors for repairs and overhauls
- Oversee production line set-up
Highest quality products & external quality standards compliance:
- Coordinate with Ambient Quality BU, Commercial and external parties to understand quality requirements and support translation into plant Quality Assurance protocols
- Oversee Quality Control of raw materials, semi-/finished goods and mass production samples to ensure compliance with all applicable quality standards
- Support internal and external quality audits and inspections, in collaboration with relevant functions
- Drive internal and external communications with relevant stakeholders for quality issues and resolution
- Oversee quality issue resolution management for both in plant and BU-wide topics (that relate to plants)
Effective S&OP
- Provide input into supply planning and volume allocation and recommend adjustments as appropriate
- Oversee planning & scheduling activities to ensure compliance to master production plan
- Support execution of and participate in S&OP cadence; ensure plant teams coordinate effectively with Global Ambient S&OP by providing timely, updated plant data and requirements
Warehouse and Logistics
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics and transport operations (including receiving and export documentation / operations) to ensure smooth plant operations and on-time, in-full deliveries
- Oversee packing and labeling operations and cross-functional collaboration (i.e., Warehouse Ops, Maintenance, Planning & Scheduling, Quality) to ensure effective operations
SHE:
- Ensure operations control and compliance with legislation (e.g., ISO) and customer requirements (including with existing and new operations)
- Ensure SHE policy implementation and adherence to roadmap for existing and new process
- Manage incidents including with root causes identification, escalation and ensuring appropriate resolution
- Provide tangible actions on how to prevent and reduce industrial hygiene / workplace environmental standard impact
Facilities Management:
- Oversee management of all plant facilities (including offices and employee housing) to ensure safe and smooth plant operations
- Oversee management of non-production related support staff (e.g., maids, security, drivers, etc. does not include HR, Finance, Digital) either internal or through external vendors and contractors to ensure SLAs are met
- Oversee coordination with Non-Fish Procurement to proactively manage costs and budget with external vendors and contractors, continually assessing opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining required level of service
People and leadership:
- Motivate, lead, and challenge team members to reach/ exceed business unit targets and objectives
- Create culture to attract, develop and retain talent as well as drive employee satisfaction within the scope, in collaboration with HR
- Drive to improve career development paths & performance mgmt. to enhance team motivation and retain quality talent
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and development to enhance employee skills and competencies
- Build longer term view / plan around people, prepare succession plans in different levels
- Manage people budget for the Plant, in collaboration with HR.
Desired Candidate Profile:
- Strong knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing processes, and ability to establish and maintain operations standards and guidelines
- Experience in identifying and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives and implementing new technologies to improve manufacturing processes, equipment, and utilities
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information to team members, stakeholders, and upper management
- Strong leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and lead teams, build a diverse and trust-based leadership team, and develop local talent
