1. Role Overview
About the Role As People Engagement Lead, you will make sure every volunteer at STEAM for Vietnam feels connected - from their first day, through their project, to the moment they leave and become alumni. You will run the rituals that hold a remote volunteer community together: onboarding check-ins, culture moments, project-close transitions, and the alumni network. Retention is your craft: volunteers who feel seen, stay.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Run Day-30 and Day-60 check-ins with every active volunteer and act on what you hear
- Own the project-close Bridge Ritual: celebrate the ending, connect volunteers to their next project
- Build and maintain the alumni network - keep former volunteers close and open a path back
- Create culture moments that make a remote, distributed team feel like one community
- Spot early signs of disengagement and intervene before people quietly drift away
3. Requirements
- You are a natural relationship builder - people open up to you
- You are a consistent operator: rituals happen on schedule, every time, without reminders
- You are empathetic and perceptive - you notice when someone's energy changes
- You believe community is built through deliberate, repeated care
Nice to have:
- Community management, events, or volunteer coordination experience
- Experience running engagement surveys or retention programs
- Comfort with remote community tools (Slack, Discord, Notion)
