As a
Package Zone Lead Engineer , you will play a key role in defining and developing the overall vehicle layout and architecture. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Design, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality to ensure that all systems and components are seamlessly integrated to meet performance, cost, weight, and ergonomic targets.
Main Tasks
- Lead upstream architectural studies to define vehicle concepts and technical envelopes for new programs (e.g., Engine, Fuel tank, body-in-white layout, HV battery packaging, powertrain integration, crash and NVH strategies).
- Translate business, brand, and regulatory requirements into high-level vehicle architectures.
- Define hardpoints and major dimensions in collaboration with design, powertrain, electrical, thermal, and manufacturing teams.
- Lead trade-off studies for packaging, performance, and cost optimization.
- Evaluate multi-functional feasibility (ergonomics, safety, thermal, electrical) early in development.
- Create and maintain vehicle architecture documentation, including layout packages, architecture briefs, and system integration plans.
- Support target setting for mass, dimensions, performance, and cost from an architectural viewpoint.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to influence key decisions on vehicle platform strategy and modularity.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent industry experience) in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in vehicle architecture or packaging within the automotive industry.
- Proficiency in CATIA V5 and Teamcenter ; familiarity with other CAD/PLM systems (UG/NX, AutoCAD) is a plus.
- Proven experience working on full vehicle design from concept to production .
- Good understanding of vehicle regulations , ergonomics, and manufacturing feasibility.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a cross-functional, multicultural environment .
