RHS Job Title Night Service Center Representative (NR) Job Description
Pay Rate: $13.73/hr.
Location: Owen hall and McDonel hall
As a Night Service Center Representative, you will perform routine clerical support while providing customer service to all residence hall students and customers, both in person and over the phone. You will also be responsible for maintaining the reception area and processing mail and packages. You will be considered the face of the residence halls while interacting with a wide range of students and customers.
You will learn real world work skills like time management, professional excellence, balancing of priorities, interpersonal communication, and working as a part of a diverse team. You will also gain a deep understanding of how an operation functions and how to build relationships while demonstrating outstanding customer service.
Typical Duties May Include
- Provide routine clerical support within a residence hall reception area
- Answer phones, process mail and packages, assist in maintaining records and accounts
- Greet visitors and clients
- Provide in-house residence hall security and customer service through the day/night
- Greet students and guests while checking identification
- Report and respond to incidents within the residence halls

Required Qualifications
- Enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
- Required to work 10+ hours per week
- Willing to be trained on night shift (11:45 pm – 7:00 am) as well as day shift (6:45 am – midnight)
- Demonstrated commitment to outstanding customer service
- Motivated self-starter and able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- Good communication skills (written and verbal)
- Positive and respectful, especially when working with a diverse population
- Dependable and reliable
- Possess a valid U.S. Issued Driver's License and be able to meet and maintain the University's driving standards
- Must be able to work through finals week
- Must be able to work weekends
- Must be able to return early for the academic school year for training and staffing needs
- Must be able to commit to working with River Trail for a full academic year
Preferred Qualifications
- May be necessary to work over semester breaks, summer is required
