VNG is looking for a System Engineer with at least 2 years of hands-on experience, responsible for managing and optimizing virtualization environments, provisioning virtual machines (VMs) for engineering teams, supporting database operations, and troubleshooting system issues in VNG's large-scale production environment.
Responsibilities:
1.Virtualization Infrastructure Management
- Configure, operate, and maintain physical servers.
- Plan and provision VMs (VMware / Hyper-V / KVM) based on System team requirements, ensuring performance and availability.
2.Cloud Services Operations and Support
- Learn, monitor, and support the operation of Azure services (Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Azure VM, etc.) and AWS.
- Coordinate with vendors to handle requests and incidents.
3.OS Operations and Troubleshooting
- Support Linux (Ubuntu / CentOS / RHEL) and Windows Server operations in virtualization environments.
- Troubleshoot system issues, analyze logs, and escalate when necessary.
4.System Monitoring and Security
- Set up monitoring, incident alerting, and ensure compliance with internal security policies.
- Participate in backup, DR, and periodic review activities.
Requirements:
1.Experience:
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience working with real production systems (academic projects or personal lab experience are not counted).
2.Virtualization Knowledge:
- Hands-on experience with at least one virtualization platform: VMware vSphere/ESXi, Microsoft Hyper-V, or KVM/Proxmox.
- Understanding of host/guest architecture, resource allocation, and snapshots.
3.Linux & Windows Server:
- Strong Linux CLI skills (bash, systemctl, basic networking).
- Windows Server administration: AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, file sharing.
4.Cloud Services:
- Practical knowledge of Azure or AWS (compute, storage, networking).
- Proactive in learning new services based on organizational needs.
5.Database Architecture & Operations:
- Understanding of common RDBMS systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL, etc.) from an operational perspective: installation, configuration, backup/restore, performance monitoring, and slow query analysis.
- Ability to collaborate with and support Dev teams in debugging, tuning, or resolving database-related issues.
6.Mindset & Working Attitude:
- Proactive, eager to learn, and willing to research new technologies.
- Able to work independently and collaborate effectively in a high-pressure operational environment.
