JOB OVERVIEW

The role is responsible for ensuring materials consistently meet the company's quality standards, product integrity, and regulatory requirements throughout the manufacturing process. You also collaborates closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers to monitor material quality, ensure compliance with global product safety and sustainability standards, and drive continuous improvement through supplier training and quality management.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support HQ teams in complex fabric development to identify and mitigate potential quality risks before production.
  • Drive high-quality standards for fabrics and trims throughout the production process by partnering with mills to optimize manufacturing processes and minimize quality risks.
  • Lead quality assessments, analyze results, and implement corrective and preventive actions with internal teams and external partners.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Development, Product Stewardship, Brands, testing laboratories, and fabric, trim, and garment suppliers to ensure seamless product execution.
  • Participate in product risk assessment meetings and work with suppliers to develop technical solutions for dyeing, printing, finishing, and other material-related processes.
  • Coordinate with the Product Stewardship team to ensure timely laboratory testing of materials, mock-ups, and finished garments, supporting on-time production readiness.
  • Monitor supplier production processes and track key material approvals (e.g., lab dips, trims, fabrics, strike-offs, sample yardage, bulk color and quality, and production timelines) to ensure production milestones are achieved.
  • Proactively communicate quality or production issues to business stakeholders and management, and work with suppliers to implement timely and effective solutions.
  • Monitor, coach, and develop fabric and material suppliers in fabric quality, chemical management, and sustainability practices to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Conduct technical audits of fabric and material suppliers, identify improvement opportunities, and follow up on corrective action plans.
  • Support the Materials Manager and Brands on initiatives and projects related to material quality, product integrity, and material development.
  • Represent the Materials team in meetings with Brands, vendors, and external partners as needed.
  • Travel as required to conduct supplier visits, technical audits, training, and other business-related activities.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES (Knowledge, Skills & Abilities)

  • In-depth knowledge of fabric production processes.
  • Excellent technical expertise in outdoor, sportswear, and golf apparel products.
  • Strong experience in assessing product quality and evaluating supplier capabilities.
  • Effective negotiation, analytical, and reporting skills.
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in both written and spoken English.
  • Mandarin language skills are an advantage.
  • Results-oriented with a proactive and solution-driven mindset.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in fabric quality assurance, fabric engineering, or a related technical role within the textile or garment manufacturing industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Textile Engineering, Textile Chemistry, or a related field.
