The Overseas Market Manager, Commercial Vehicles is responsible for driving Weichai's commercial vehicle business development and market growth in Vietnam. The position will focus on market intelligence, competitor benchmarking, OEM and distributor development, product promotion, customer relationship management and sales growth.
This role requires close collaboration with Weichai's domestic business teams, Vietnamese commercial vehicle OEMs, distributors, fleet operators, key customers and after-sales service teams to strengthen Weichai's market position and support long-term business development in Vietnam.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseas Market and Competitor Analysis
- Monitor Vietnam's commercial vehicle, truck, bus, powertrain, and engine markets, including market trends, customer requirements, industry developments and competitor activities.
- Analyse demand across major commercial vehicle segments, including heavy-duty trucks, medium-duty trucks, buses, construction vehicles and other applicable applications.
- Conduct competitor benchmarking covering engines, powertrains, fuel efficiency, reliability, emissions performance, pricing, warranty and after-sales support.
- Monitor developments in Vietnam's emissions standards, vehicle regulations, import requirements and technology trends.
- Develop market intelligence reports and recommend product positioning and market-entry strategies.
Customer Relationship and Business Development
- Develop and maintain relationships with Vietnamese commercial vehicle OEMs, distributors, fleet operators, dealers and strategic customers.
- Identify potential OEM and distributor partners and develop new business opportunities.
- Conduct product presentations, technical-commercial discussions, customer visits, product demonstrations and business negotiations.
- Support customer RFQs, product selection, technical discussions, quotations and commercial negotiations.
- Drive customer engagement and convert market opportunities into product applications and sales orders.
Cross-functional Coordination and Product Development
- Coordinate with domestic product, engineering, sales, manufacturing and technical teams to respond to Vietnam customer requirements.
- Communicate customer technical specifications and market requirements to internal product teams.
- Support engine and powertrain product selection, application matching, product customisation and localisation.
- Coordinate product validation, testing, launch and market promotion activities with customers.
- Support the execution and transmission of export orders.
Product Flow and Service Coordination
- Monitor product delivery, sales volume, customer orders and product flow within the Vietnam market.
- Coordinate with distributors and service teams regarding installation, commissioning, maintenance, warranty and technical support.
- Monitor customer complaints and service issues and ensure timely escalation and resolution.
- Identify recurring service requirements and provide feedback to product and technical teams.
- Support the development of local service capabilities and customer satisfaction.
Market Expansion and Performance Improvement
- Develop and execute Vietnam market expansion plans in line with regional business objectives.
- Identify opportunities in major commercial vehicle applications and emerging customer segments.
- Track sales performance, market share, customer development, product penetration and competitor activities.
- Recommend corrective actions to improve sales performance and market competitiveness.
- Contribute to achieving sales, market share, OEM development, product promotion and customer acquisition targets.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Internal Combustion Engines, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- Native-level Vietnamese and strong English proficiency; conversational Chinese sufficient for business communication is preferred.
- Relevant experience in R&D, sales, product development, manufacturing processes, technical sales, or related functions within the engine, mechanical, automotive, commercial vehicle, powertrain, or related industries.
- Experience working with Vietnamese commercial vehicle OEMs, distributors, dealers, or fleet customers is highly preferred.
- Overseas market development or international business experience is an advantage.
- Good understanding of Vietnam's commercial vehicle market, customer structure, competitive landscape and industry trends.
- Strong understanding of internal combustion engines, new energy power systems, powertrains and related technologies.
- Good knowledge of Weichai products, technical specifications, and performance parameters, with the ability to assess product competitiveness.
- Familiarity with Vietnam's vehicle emissions standards, commercial vehicle regulations and relevant market requirements is an advantage.
- Strong market research, competitor analysis, and customer needs analysis capabilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and familiar with digital business applications.
- Strong commercial awareness, communication, negotiation, coordination and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel extensively within Vietnam and internationally when required.
