The Local Support Team Manager ( Exterior and Powertrain) is a senior engineering leadership role, responsible for end-to-end module ownership and execution within the Ha Tinh plant. The role focuses on ensuring engineering alignment, quality improvement, and issue resolution across Exterior and Powertrain systems, while maintaining strong coordination with HQ Engineering and cross-functional teams.
This position will act as a key bridge between Plant Engineering and HQ Engineering, ensuring timely execution of problem solving, validation, vehicle sign-off, and design changes.
Key Responsibilities
- Module Ownership – Exterior & Powertrain
Take Full Ownership Of Engineering Activities Related To
- Exterior systems (Bumpers, Closures, Plastic trims, fit & finish)
- Powertrain systems (Driveline, Cooling, NVH-related components)
- Ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing execution
- Drive improvements in fit, finish, performance, and quality
- Engineering Coordination (Plant Focus)
- Act as the primary engineering interface between:
- Ha Tinh Plant teams
- HQ Engineering teams
- Ensure effective coordination across all stakeholders
- Support cross-functional alignment for program execution
- Problem Solving & G8D Leadership
- Lead structured problem solving using:
- G8D / 8D methodology
- RCA, ICA, PCA
Ensure
- Timely containment and corrective actions
- Ownership of issue closure
- Proper tracking in JIRA, DCR, and ECR systems
- Handle escalation of plant and field issues
- Trials, Validation & Vehicle Sign-Off
- Plan and coordinate:
- Engineering trials
- Validation activities
- Production builds
Represent Engineering During
- Vehicle build phases
- Gate reviews
- MML sign-off activities
- Ensure readiness for production and export requirements
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical / Automotive / Mechatronics Engineering
Experience
- 15 - 20 years of experience in Automotive Engineering
Strong Expertise In
- Exterior systems
- Powertrain systems
- Experience in:
- Plant engineering and production support
- Problem solving and validation
Core Skills & Competencies
Exterior (Body, Trim & Closure Systems) – Key Skills
Strong Knowledge Of Exterior Systems, Including
- Bumpers, closures, trims, weather seals, and plastic components
- Experience in fit & finish, gap and flush, and surface quality improvements
- Understanding of aesthetic quality, durability, and environmental performance
- Exposure to water leakage, wind noise (NVH), and sealing validations
- Experience in tooling, manufacturing feasibility, and assembly benchmarking
- Ability to lead design improvements and issue resolution related to fitment and styling parts
- Hands-on experience in vehicle build issues (flush, mismatch, interference, deformation)
Powertrain & Thermal Management – Key Skills
Strong knowledge of Powertrain systems, including driveline, propulsion, and NVH performance
Experience With Thermal Management Systems, Including
- Cooling systems (engine / battery / e-motor cooling)
- HVAC integration and performance
- Thermal load and heat rejection balancing
- Understanding of thermal system optimization for performance, durability, and efficiency
- Experience in NVH and durability issues related to powertrain systems
- Ability to support root cause analysis for thermal and powertrain-related concerns
- Exposure to testing, validation, and improvement of cooling and thermal components
