MAJOR FUNCTION
As Legal Manager, you will report directly to the General Counsel and be responsible for supervising day-to-day operations of the legal team, ensuring high-quality legal support to internal stakeholders, and maintaining legal compliance across business activities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Department Supervision:
- Manage the daily workflow of the legal department and ensure alignment with business priorities.
- Supervise and support team members to maintain high standards of legal service delivery.
- Monitor task allocation, team capacity, and performance targets.
Legal Opinion and Advice:
- Provide strategic legal advice and practical solutions on a broad range of legal issues to various business units.
- Review business activities to ensure alignment with legal requirements and minimize legal risks.
Compliance:
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of internal compliance policies.
- Conduct regular reviews to ensure adherence to laws, regulations, and internal controls.
Risk Assessment and Audit:
- Assist in identifying legal and regulatory risks and advise mitigation strategies.
- Lead or support internal legal audits, including periodic review of contract templates and legal documentation.
Licensing and Regulatory Liaison:
- Advise on licensing requirements and liaise with local authorities to secure necessary permits for company operations.
- Ensure timely renewals and accurate record-keeping of licenses and approvals.
External Counsel Management:
- Independently manage relationships with external law firms and service providers.
- Review external counsel deliverables and ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with internal standards.
- Monitor legal developments and provide strategic recommendations on regulatory and policy issues.
External Relations:
- Represent the company in dispute resolution, litigation, and legal proceedings.
- Manage legal settlements, claims, and complaints in collaboration with relevant departments.
Team Leadership:
- Support the training, coaching, and development of junior legal staff.
- Contribute to performance evaluations and ensure team readiness for cross-functional legal support.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Regional General Counsel and the BOM, including cross-border legal tasks and regional projects if required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Law degree from a recognized university.
- Minimum 5 years of legal practice experience, preferably in-house and/or in intellectual property/internet/technology/digital service industries.
- In-depth knowledge of general legal principles; experience in intellectual property, content licensing, internet, digital media, or platform-based services is an advantage.
- Proven ability to provide sound legal advice in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage team dynamics and mentor junior staff.
- Detail-oriented, high integrity, proactive, and results-driven.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Vietnamese and English.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office and legal research tools.
- Basic knowledge of AI tools for data handling or automation is a plus.
