Lecturer in Microcontrollers and Embedded Systems

Job description and responsibilities 

Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (ETE) study program at EIU invites applications for the lecturer position in Microcontrollers and Embedded Systems. The candidate should demonstrate expertise with microcontrollers (ARM, PIC), real-time operating systems and task scheduling, communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, CAN), analog and digital circuit design, and have ability to optimize system performance within resource constraints (memory, power, etc.). Special emphasis on embedded systems for IoT and smart systems (intelligent housing, smart city solutions, smart grids, autonomous vehicles, etc.) is desired. Experience with cyber-security for IoT systems, cloud computing and hands-on industry skills is a plus. 

Teaching comprises conducting lectures and corresponding laboratories in microcontrollers, real- time embedded systems and applications, taking into account the software and hardware implementation and verification, programming in Assembly and higher programming languages C/C++, embedded design and smart devices, and possibly other related courses for bachelor students, supervising bachelor theses. The teaching language for the ETE study program is English. The total minimum teaching workload is 280 hours per academic year. The candidate is expected to contribute to comprehensive teaching activities such as promoting active learning and experiential learning methods, developing and evaluating a broad range of courses within the area of expertise for the existing and new study programs in coordination with the program coordinator. 

The candidate is also expected to contribute to the development of the School of Engineering in terms of generating externally funded research projects, scientific publications, and actively participating in public engagement activities and industry collaborations, per discussions and mutual agreement with the Dean. You will participate in industry advisory committees and coordinate, manage projects within the specified program area.

Preferred qualifications 

• Candidates must hold a Master or Doctor (preferred) degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, or related fields from well-known reputable international universities. 

• Prerequisites for the recruitment are an outstanding academic record, including publications in international, peer-reviewed journals, an excellent doctorate dissertation, as well as proven effective teaching experience in the field of Telecommunications Engineering. 

• The candidate must have proven excellent English speaking and writing skills. 

• The demonstrated ability to obtain funding for research projects is highly valued. 

• Besides courses in the field of expertise, ability to teach programming languages C/C++, Python, JAVA and a course on technical writing and presentation is a plus. How to apply
