About The Role
We're looking for a Lead Software Engineer to build scalable, high-performance software powering Katalon's next generation platform. You'll work closely with the teams to deliver robust backend services, modern web applications, and cloud-native solutions while leveraging AI to improve both product capabilities and engineering productivity.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and modern web applications using Java, Python, and JavaScript technologies.
- Collaborate with Product Managers and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and implementation planning.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following software engineering best practices.
- Review code and mentor engineers to improve code quality, maintainability, and system reliability.
- Build highly available, secure, and observable distributed systems.
- Improve application performance, scalability, and operational excellence.
- Contribute to shared engineering libraries, internal frameworks, and developer tooling.
- Investigate and resolve production issues while continuously improving system stability.
- Adopt modern AI-powered developer tools to improve engineering productivity and automate repetitive development tasks where appropriate.
Job Requirements
- Strong proficiency in Java, with hands-on experience building scalable backend systems using frameworks such as Spring Boot, Quarkus, or Micronaut.
- Good experience with Python for backend services, automation, scripting, or data processing.
- Strong knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, with experience building modern web applications using frameworks such as React, Vue, or similar.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, distributed systems, microservices architecture, and asynchronous messaging.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Experience deploying and operating applications using Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, Git workflows, and software delivery best practices.
- Deep understanding of software engineering principles including SOLID, Design Patterns, Clean Architecture, and secure coding practices.
- Proven experience leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and collaborating across multiple teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good English communication skills.
Preferred Experience
- Experience working with AI-powered developer tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code, or similar.
- Exposure to integrating LLM APIs or AI capabilities into software products.
- Familiarity with prompt engineering or AI-assisted software development.
- Experience building SaaS products serving enterprise customers.
- Contributions to open-source projects or technical communities.
