Overview
Money Forward Workflow Platform provides shared workflow infrastructure for all MF Cloud products. It unifies fragmented per-product workflow/approval functionality into a common foundation, enabling consistent UX across products and reducing the cost of building workflow features for new products.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to join our fantastic team.
- This pivotal role requires a proactive professional with a strong foundation in manual, automation, and AI testing.
- The successful candidate will excel at creating and implementing end-to-end test strategies and plans. You will be tasked with upholding superior software quality standards, providing cross-product leadership within the department, and making substantial contributions to the overall excellence of our software offerings.
- Key priorities for this role include the validation of AI model performance, testing of AI-integrated features, and maintaining the quality and integrity of the data pipelines and datasets critical to our development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Quality Ownership & Strategy
This role champions a quality-first mindset, ensuring shared accountability across all teams.
- AI Testing Methodologies: Constructing AI agents and delivery pipelines to seamlessly integrate quality checks into the development lifecycle.
- End-to-End Quality: Own product quality from initial development through to production across a growing product platform.
- Strategy & Standards: Define, refine, and champion quality strategies, test plans, and quality gates for releases and milestones.
- Coverage & Review: Review and guide quality across all layers (unit, backend, database, API, UI), ensuring adherence to the Test Pyramid and best practices.
- Defect Management: Lead defect triage, root cause analysis, and risk assessment, proposing mitigation strategies pre-deployment.
- Process & Alignment: Establish standard processes for all test activities, bug tracking, and release decisions, ensuring alignment with long-term department QA goals.
Test Planning & Execution Strategy
- Core Functional Testing: Architect and execute exhaustive testing strategies across pre-release, post-deployment, and live production stages.
- AI Validation & Verification: Lead the design of specialized test frameworks for AI/ML-driven features, ensuring model outputs meet high standards for accuracy and reliability.
- Conduct rigorous prompt testing and response evaluation to mitigate hallucinations, bias, and unstable reasoning.
- Establish benchmarks and quality gates specifically for AI-powered components.
- Automation & Stability: Advance automation maturity through modern frameworks while managing resilience and failover testing to guarantee system-wide integrity.
- Lifecycle Management: Create and maintain vital test artifacts, oversee regression and integration cycles, and deliver transparent QA reporting for full traceability.
- Stakeholder Alignment: Partner closely with product and engineering teams to identify risks early and define clear acceptance criteria for all features.
Collaboration & Leadership (Shift-Left Focus)
The goal is to build quality into every step of the AI SDLC (Shift-left).
- Unified Vision: Partner with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to maintain a unified quality vision.
- Mentorship: Lead QA engineers and mentor developers on effective test design, automation strategies, and risk-based testing.
- Advocacy: Act as a quality advocate, promoting proactive testing, continuous improvement, and shared quality ownership.
- Meeting Leadership: Lead quality discussions during key project planning and release meetings.
- Production Validation: Collaborate with SRE and DevOps to validate releases under production-like conditions.
Qualifications
Mandatory
- Professional Background: Over 6 years of software testing experience, specializing in the design and scaling of complex automation architectures (E2E, API), complemented by deep manual and non-functional testing expertise.
- AI & Automation Expertise: Highly proficient in Playwright, Postman, REST Assured, and GraphQL. Skilled at utilizing AI-driven tools like Cursor, Claude, and Playwright MCP to streamline test development and execution.
- Leadership Experience: Strong leadership orientation with experience in international collaboration and department-level multi-product oversight.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert in scripting languages and complex API validation, with a focus on full integration testing across all layers to maximize coverage.
- Quality Accountability: Demonstrated capability to lead product quality via transparent reporting, automation roadmaps, and comprehensive release quality assessments.
- Process Knowledge: Extensive experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), CI/CD workflows, Git, and test management platforms like TestRail or Zephyr.
- Core Competencies: Superior communication, analytical, and documentation abilities.

- AI model evaluation metrics such as accuracy, precision, recall, and response quality.
- Exposure to performance or security testing (e.g., JMeter, K6).
- Familiarity with cloud-based environments (e.g., AWS).
- ISTQB or equivalent software AI-Specific QA certifications.
