CODE LEAP is seeking a hands-on
Junior Artificial Intelligence (AI) engineer who will help strengthen our backend development. The ideal engineer will bring their experiences, best practices, and a collaborative attitude to help drive agile culture initiatives. To be successful, one should effectively communicate with our development and operations team to orchestrate the creation or improvement of solutions that can scale. YOUR EXCITING TASKS
- Build and integrate AI/ML features into production — model inference (Hugging Face, hosted LLM APIs), prompting, and wiring outputs into real product workflows
- Turn unstructured inputs (documents, PDFs, messy data) into structured, reliable output
- Break down requirements, assess feasibility, and propose clear solutions
- Write clean, scalable Python; review teammates code to keep quality high
- Design, build, and maintain APIs (e.g. FastAPI) with performance and scalability in mind
- Build evaluation harnesses to measure accuracy, catch regressions, and reduce hallucinations
- Prepare and structure data; design the database as the product's needs evolve
- Work with an international team based in Vietnam and Germany
- Write comprehensive technical documents
YOUR PROFILE AND YOUR PERSONALITY
- 1–2 years of experience working on AI/ML projects (building, integrating, or experimenting with models)
- Hands-on experience with AI/ML models — running inference (e.g. Hugging Face), choosing the right model, prompting, evaluating outputs, and handling limitations like hallucinations (LLMs / Generative AI a plus)
- Strong Python — clean, well-organized code that scales as the project grows
- Experience with SQL, pgvector, and relational databases (writing queries, designing schemas, managing databases)
- Experience building/integrating APIs (e.g. FastAPI) in a client-server architecture, with attention to performance (inference latency, concurrent requests)
- Strong problem-solving — able to break down a requirement, assess feasibility, and propose a clear, well-reasoned solution
- Experience with Git, Docker, and good engineering practices (testing, documentation, code review)
- Must have experience writing technical documentation
- You understand and know how to prioritize your tasks with a problem-solving mindset
- You don't take things personally and are comfortable with ambiguity and rapid changes common in early-stage product development
- You don't wait for others to tell you what you need to do but proactively reach out to people, communicate, ask for help, and get things done
- You feel comfortable communicating in the English language
