Job Summary
Vinfast's drive unit development team-EMI is looking for a skilled and motivated team lead to guide (power) electronic/electrical engineers pushing the power electronics propelling our vehicles to the next level. The team is presently working to improve the current - and design the next - generation of traction inverters and you will ensure project targets are met, while coordinating, assisting, and motivating the team wherever needed. Job Description
- Leadership & Strategy
- Define the technical strategy and roadmap for inverter and power electronics systems.
- Establish and manage a world-class Power Electronics Design Center including R&D, validation, and industrial support functions.
- Lead a multidisciplinary team (hardware, control software, mechanical, and test engineers).
- Drive innovation in SiC/GaN-based inverter architectures, EMC design, and thermal optimization.
- Identify and solve restrictions in daily work, define long term development plans, and everything in between, while motivating the team through challenges.
- Technical Excellence
- Oversee the end-to-end design process: concept, simulation, schematic, PCB layout, prototyping, DVP&R, and industrialization.
- Review and approve system specifications, schematics, and design FMEAs.
- Ensure designs meet performance, cost, safety, and reliability targets (ISO 26262, LV123, LV148, IEC 61851).
- Drive advanced R&D for next-gen inverter topologies,SiC,GAN, Dual Inverter, modulation techniques, and thermal management.
- Oversee validation & testing (electrical, mechanical, environmental, EMC).
- Program & Budget Management
- Manage budget, resources, and timelines for multiple inverter programs.
- Collaborate with purchasing and manufacturing for supplier selection, DFM/DFT, and localization strategy.
- Support customer programs from RFQ to SOP (prototype to series production).
- Talent & Organization Development
- Build, coach, and mentor a high-performing engineering team.
- Define competency frameworks and career paths for power electronics engineers.
- Promote continuous improvement, IP creation, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or related field.
- 10+ years in power electronics design and development.
- 5+ years in leadership roles managing R&D or design centers.
- Proven track record in inverter design for EV/HEV applications.
- Experience with SiC/GaN devices, DSP/MCU control, EMC/EMI design, and thermal optimization.
- Strong understanding of automotive standards and validation processes (ISO 26262, LV123,LV124 etc.).
- Global project management and cross-cultural collaboration experience preferred.
