Inventory Analyst
Role Purposes
- To manage and oversee the end-to-end inventory valuation for multiple entities across South East Asia and Europe. Acting as the technical bridge between the operational teams in APAC and the Headquarters in Germany, this role ensures the accuracy of inventory valuation, compliance with Group Accounting Standards and local GAAPs
- This position requires a high degree of independence to manage remote reporting lines in Singapore while collaborating technically with stakeholders in Germany
Major Accountabilities
- Inventory Valuation & Month-End Closing:
- Perform monthly inventory valuation routines for assigned entities in Asia and Europe, ensuring accurate calculation of weighted average costs and devaluation
- Execute month-end closing activities, including the reconciliation of the Inventory Sub-ledger to the General Ledger (GL) and investigation of discrepancies
- Process improvement and standardization
- Local financial reporting: prepare the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) reconciliation report
- Provisions & Reserves:
- Analyze inventory aging reports to calculate and book provisions for slow-moving, obsolete, and excess stock in accordance with Group Policy
- Work closely with Logistics, Supply Chain and Quality Departments to ensure data integrity
- Costing calculation review:
- Review cost calculations to ensure strict adherence to accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP) and internal inventory costing policies
- Escalate discrepancies or technical concerns to regional management and subject matter experts
- Process & Compliance:
- Strengthen and monitor internal control measures across the supply chain finance process to ensure accurate inventory valuation and mitigate financial risk
- Coordinate and oversee annual physical stock counts (and cycle counts) for remote entities; reconcile physical counts with system records
- Ensure full compliance with German GAAP and local statutory requirements regarding inventory reporting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for external auditors regarding inventory valuation, costing methodologies, and cut-off testing
- Inventory reporting & adhoc analysis for assigned entities in Asia and Europe
- Support the Regional Director Finance in various business analysis requirements (including but not limited to extracting operational and financial information from ERP system and data warehouses, and compiling statistics, reports and others as required)
Role Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional qualification (ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or Vietnam CPA) is highly advantage
- 5–7 years in General Accounting or Cost Accounting, in which: at least 3 years focused on Inventory Accounting in a manufacturing or distribution environment
- Experienced working in a Shared Service Center (SSC) or a multinational environment with remote reporting lines
- Professional English communication skills, both written and verbal
- ERP Systems: Advanced user of Infor M3 or similar
- Accounting Standards: Strong knowledge of IFRS and Vietnamese GAAP; knowledge of German GAAP is an advantage
- Technical Skills: Advanced Microsoft Excel & Access skills (database queries, pivot tables, lookups, handling large datasets).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; able to handle large volumes of data (data-driven)
