We are seeking a highly design-focused industrial designer for an immediate contract role to bring a consumer electromechanical product from early concepts to a fully resolved, production-ready design for manufacturing in China.
This is a hands-on role centered on sketching, form development, CAD, and detailed drafting. You will shape how the product looks, feels, and functions—translating rough concepts into refined designs that are ready for handoff to a manufacturing partner for final engineering and production.
You should have strong design instincts, excellent taste, and a deep understanding of user experience for physical products—not just how they look, but how they are used and experienced.
This is an urgent contract role.
What You'll Do:
- Translate ideas into early sketches, concept explorations, and refined product directions
- Develop product form, ergonomics, and user experience
- Build production-ready 3D CAD models (SolidWorks or similar)
- Create clear electromechanical design drawings and technical documentation
- Produce structured drafting packages for factory handoff
- Apply Design for Manufacturability (DFM) throughout the design process
- Ensure designs are practical, well-resolved, and ready for real-world production

- A portfolio featuring real physical products (not just renders)
- Clear sketch → concept → refinement → final design process
- Strong sense of form, proportion, and materials
- Thoughtful approach to user experience for physical products
- Clean, well-structured CAD and production drawings
- Evidence that your designs can realistically be manufactured
- Strong taste, attention to detail, and passion for product design
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong industrial design foundation (sketching, form, product thinking)
- Ability to move from sketch → concept → CAD → production drawings
- Experience with electromechanical design and technical drafting
- CAD modeling (SolidWorks or similar)
- Understanding of Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
- Basic knowledge of mechanical/electronic systems (motors, mechanisms, controllers)
- Conversational English proficiency required
This Role is NOT a Fit If You:
- Focus on UI/UX or digital-only design
- Lack experience designing physical consumer products
Education:
- Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
