POSITION SUMMARY:
In-house legal work for a US manufacturing company with growing presence in Vietnam and the rest of Southeast Asia, providing a broad range of legal support, with primary focus on Vietnam.
Proactive and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to balance multiple projects under time pressure. Able to communicate effectively with various internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on bringing projects and open issues to resolution.
Ability to work in English and Vietnamese (both spoken and reading/writing). Mandarin Chinese language skills are a plus, but not mandatory.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES TO BE ACCOMPLISHED:
- Advising the business teams regarding legal and compliance issues in their daily operations including research, contract review and providing legal opinion on a variety of legal, contractual and corporate matters. Typical contracts reviewed include NDAs, supplier and customer contracts, other operational documents and IP matters.
- Helping to manage legal risk across our businesses in Southeast Asia, especially Vietnam including providing ethics training and working with other internal stakeholders on compliance
- Coordinate and assist with statutory filing obligations, such as IRC/ERC applications and amendments.
- Advising internal clients on litigation and regulatory matters; regular attendance at the factories/offices of internal clients
- Manage signature process of corporate documents and contracts.
- Prepare letters, memos, reports, filings and other relevant documents.
- Docket and analyze incoming mail, physically or electronically.
- Consolidate ad hoc, monthly and quarterly reports for HQ.
- Prepare corporate, legal and real estate tables.
- General admin functions, filing, recording etc.
EDUCATION (Qualifications obtained in the course of formal education and/or training)
Law degree, with qualification to practice law
EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
At least 2-3 years experience working as a lawyer in a law firm and/or corporate in-house legal counsel in a MNC's legal department.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to work in English and Vietnamese. Mandarin Chinese skills optional.
- Attention to detail and accuracy, while multi-tasking to ensure various projects are completed on time
- Strong inter-personal skills, with ability to work with various stakeholders, across function areas and geographies. The candidate should enjoy working both independently, as well as within a team that sits in other countries or cities.
