An exciting opportunity to join a leading financial services organisation as a Head of Technology Risk & Controls and play a key role in strengthening technology risk, controls, governance, and operational resilience across a large-scale international technology function.
This is a senior leadership position with significant visibility across technology and business leadership teams, responsible for driving first-line risk management, enhancing control effectiveness, and supporting the safe delivery of technology initiatives across multiple regions.
Only candidates based in, or willing to relocate to, Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, Vietnam will be considered.
What you will do:
- Lead the technology risk and controls function across a large and complex technology organisation.
- Partner with senior technology and business stakeholders to identify, assess, and mitigate operational and technology risks.
- Drive the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of risk management frameworks, controls, and governance processes.
- Provide strategic guidance on risk posture, control effectiveness, remediation activities, and regulatory requirements.
- Support technology teams in balancing risk management with delivery objectives and business outcomes.
- Engage with internal audit, compliance, risk, and regulatory stakeholders to ensure strong governance and oversight.
- Lead initiatives to improve risk maturity, reporting, predictive analytics, automation, and operational efficiency.
- Build and develop a high-performing team while fostering a strong risk-aware culture across the organisation.
What you will need:
- Strong background in technology risk, operational risk, controls, or governance within large and complex organisations.
- Experience partnering with senior technology executives and business leaders on risk-related matters.
- Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels of seniority.
- Strong understanding of risk frameworks, controls design, compliance obligations, and governance practices.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Practical and commercially minded approach to balancing risk management with business objectives.
- Experience leading teams and driving organisational change in dynamic environments.
Must have:
- 10+ years of experience in technology risk, operational risk, controls, governance, or related disciplines.
- Experience within banking, financial services, fintech, or other highly regulated industries.
- Proven leadership experience within large-scale enterprise or regulated environments.
- Strong understanding of technology risk domains including infrastructure, applications, cloud, cybersecurity, data, and third-party services.
- Experience designing and implementing risk and control frameworks within complex organisations.
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with senior executives, audit functions, and regulatory stakeholders.
- Track record of driving control improvements, remediation programmes, and risk maturity initiatives.
Nice to have:
- Exposure to global or multi-region operating models and distributed technology teams.
- Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC, or equivalent risk and security qualifications.
- Understanding of software development lifecycles, technology delivery practices, and enterprise platforms.
- Postgraduate qualifications in technology, business, risk management, or related disciplines.
