Job Description

As part of Maybank Vietnam's strategic growth agenda, the Head of Corporate Banking Vietnam will lead and expand the bank's corporate banking franchise across Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The role is responsible for driving sustainable revenue growth, strengthening corporate client relationships, managing risk-adjusted balance sheet expansion, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory and Group requirements, while collaborating closely with regional and global stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Strategy & Leadership

  • Lead and execute the Corporate Banking strategy in Vietnam in alignment with Group Corporate Banking and Group Global Banking objectives.
  • Drive revenue growth across lending, trade finance, and cross-sell businesses including cash management, treasury, investment banking, and structured solutions.
  • Manage budgets, forecasts, and income uplift initiatives to ensure profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Identify priority industries, client segments, and growth opportunities within the Vietnam market.

Client Development & Relationship Management

  • Lead and develop the corporate client portfolio across Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City branches.
  • Build and maintain senior-level relationships with regional inbound clients and large Vietnamese corporates.
  • Originate new business opportunities across lending, capital markets, structured finance, transaction banking, and investment banking.
  • Work closely with product partners to deliver integrated financial solutions to corporate clients.

Cross-Border & Regional Collaboration

  • Partner with regional and in-country client coverage teams to support regional inbound clients operating in Vietnam.
  • Facilitate cross-border transactions including outbound financing, syndications, and structured financing solutions
  • Contribute to regional client strategies for regional corporate groups

Credit & Risk Management

  • Ensure strong credit discipline and effective portfolio management across corporate banking exposures.
  • Oversee underwriting standards, portfolio quality, and risk-adjusted return metrics.
  • Monitor sector concentration, early warning indicators, and credit remediation where required.

Team Leadership & Talent Development

  • Lead and develop high-performing Corporate Banking teams in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
  • Foster a performance-driven culture with strong emphasis on client service, risk awareness, and collaboration.
  • Provide coaching and leadership to Team Leads and Relationship Managers.
  • Ensure effective succession planning and ongoing talent development.

REQUIREMENTS:

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Banking, Finance, Economics, or Business Administration
  • Minimum 15 years of banking experience, with strong exposure to corporate and global banking businesses.
  • Proven leadership experience managing senior relationship teams.
  • Strong understanding of corporate banking products including lending, trade finance, treasury, cash management, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in credit assessment, portfolio management, and risk governance.

  • Strong strategic leadership and commercial acumen.
  • Deep understanding of the Vietnam corporate banking market.
  • Regional and global banking perspective with cross-border exposure.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills at C-suite level.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management capabilities.
