ABOUT THE ROLE
The Chief Accountant leads the Accounting Function, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, strong internal controls, full regulatory compliance, and efficient execution of daily accounting operations. The Chief Accountant ensures high integrity of financial data, supports operational stability, and upholds international management standards across multi-business, multi-entity environments within Millennia Education Group.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. FINCANCIAL REPORTING & COMPLIANCE
a) Financial Reporting
Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, accounting manuals, SOPs, internal guidelines aligned with Vietnamese accounting standards (VAS) and international accounting standards.
Manage and continually improve closing processes; review the accuracy and completeness of accounting records, journal entries, and reconciliations across all accounting modules to ensure data integrity and financial governance.
Prepare or review timely and accurate financial statements in compliance with VAS and, where applicable, international accounting standards. Ensure timely submission of all financial reports to authorities and internal stakeholders.
Build and maintain strong relationships with external auditors and regulators; coordinate annual statutory audits and effectively address audit findings and recommendations.
b) Taxation
Manage all tax filings and payments to ensure compliance with regulations.
Maintain accurate tax accounting and reconciliation, ensuring timely and complete documentation of tax obligations.
Provide tax consultancy to internal stakeholders on business models, product structures, promotions, projects, and other tax-related matters.
Identify and mitigate tax risks, ensure effective tax planning aligned with regulations.
Act as the primary contact for tax authorities and external tax consultants during inspections, reviews, or ad-hoc advisory engagements.
c) Governance & Compliance
Ensure full compliance with local statutory and regulatory requirements related to finance, accounting, tax, and corporate filings.
Establish, implement, and monitor internal control frameworks (P2P, O2C, Payroll, Fixed Assets, Treasury) to ensure accuracy, transparency, and reliability of financial data, and safeguard company assets.
Support risk management and compliance initiatives, including preparation for internal audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory assessments.
2. ACCOUNTING OPERATIONS
a) Treasury Management
Oversee daily cash management, bank account reconciliation, and cash-flow planning.
Ensure liquidity planning supports operational stability and payment obligations.
Maintain secure and compliant treasury controls.
b) Accounts Payable (AP)
Establish and enforce AP processes covering vendor contract management, invoice verification, approval workflows, and payment scheduling.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of vendor payments, employee advances/ reimbursements, and tax authority payments.
Maintain vendor aging, resolve discrepancies, and optimize working capital.
c) Accounts Receivable (AR)
Develop and manage AR processes including contract creation, billing, collection, promotions/ discounting, and revenue reconciliation.
Ensure accurate and timely revenue recognition under internal and statutory rules.
Oversee collection processes and customer receivable management.
d) Operational Efficiency & Digitalization
Drive automation of accounting tasks using ERP, digital workflows, and financial systems.
Ensure SOPs are optimized for digital tools and integrated with other systems.
3. TEAM LEADERSHIP
Manage the accounting team to ensure high performance.
Provide training, mentorship, and development opportunities for team members.
Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture.
Foster strong cross-departmental collaboration by working closely with management and teams across the organization.
Provide financial guidance for cross-functional task, facilitate budget alignment, and promote transparency in resource allocation.
REQUIREMENTS
Education
Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Accounting.
Relevant professional certifications are an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record of success in managing accounting functions in an international organization.
