Role Summary
We are hiring a Team Lead to lead execution of development work within the Integrations team. This vertical owns the third-party and partner integrations, external API contracts, integration middleware, and cross-system data contracts that connect the platform to outside vendors and services. The Team Lead is accountable for predictable sprint delivery and implementation quality. They also own architecture adherence within team scope, runtime stability of team-owned integration services, and structured technical risk visibility.
This is a hands-on leadership role with an approximate 60% hands-on / 40% governance split. The Team Lead governs team outcomes; senior engineers drive day-to-day execution mechanics.
Key Responsibilities
- Own sprint planning, sprint scope commitment, and realistic capacity-aligned delivery for the team.
- Co-decompose complex and cross-module technical initiatives with senior engineers.
- Execute complex and shared foundational integration work hands-on (partner/vendor APIs, integration middleware, cross-system contracts).
- Govern code review discipline and enforce engineering standards within the team.
- Ensure architecture and standard adherence within team scope — preventing violations, not redefining enterprise standards.
- Own runtime stability of team-owned integration services and coordinate incident diagnosis and resolution within team scope, including participation in the on-call escalation rotation.
- Detect technical risks early and escalate formally to the Technical Director when they exceed team authority.
- Govern API versioning and backward compatibility discipline so integration changes ship with migration paths and no undocumented breaking changes.
- Drive structured capability development and mentoring across the team.
Required Experience
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including 2+ years of recent production experience with Golang.
- 3+ years in a Team Lead, Tech Lead, or equivalent role formally accountable for a development team's delivery and quality outcomes.
- Demonstrated ownership of sprint delivery, scope commitment, and code review discipline for a team.
- Track record of mentoring engineers across junior-to-senior levels.
- Experience operating in a microservice, multi-repo environment.
- Hands-on experience using AI coding tools in a production team setting, with awareness of review/QA guard rails.
Required Technical Skills
- 2+ years of experience with Golang.
- 5+ years of experience with one of the following languages: Golang, C++, C#, Java, or Node.js / TypeScript / JavaScript.
- Experience with designing and/or implementing distributed systems.
- Experience with designing and/or implementing microservice-oriented architecture.
- Experience with Git.
- Experience with NoSQL.
- Knowledge of UML or similar design languages/methodologies.
- Strong knowledge of TCP/IP and HTTP protocol stacks.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with design and implementation of RESTful web services.
- Experience working in Linux environments.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment, and can work independently.
- Experience working in an Agile Development environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication in English.
- Advanced knowledge of OOP/OOD, design patterns, and SOLID.
Valued / Secondary Skills
- Node.js with JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Experience with performance tuning of large-scale platforms.
- Experience using tools such as GitLab, SVN, Jira, Confluence, Docker.
- Experience with Cassandra, ElasticSearch, and/or Postgres.
- Experience with any of the following is considered a strong plus: RabbitMQ, Kafka, Protocol Buffers, gRPC, Redis, JWT, OAuth2.
- Experience integrating and governing third-party / external vendor integrations.
- Prior work in regulated or high-availability environments (online gaming/casino domain a plus).
- AI at company / organizational level — experience contributing to AI governance, tooling evaluation, and rollout of AI-assisted workflows across teams or the wider organization.
Leadership & Soft Skills
- Proven experience leading a development team and owning sprint delivery outcomes.
- Strong written and spoken English — all organizational communication is in English; the team includes distributed engineers.
- Ability to mentor engineers across junior-to-senior levels.
- Comfortable distinguishing what the team owns versus what requires escalation or cross-functional coordination.
- Effective cross-team and stakeholder communication, including negotiating shared contracts and coordinating dependencies with other verticals and external partners.
Role Boundaries (Cannot Do)
This role explicitly does not:
- Approve production releases (release approval is Technical Director authority).
- Override architecture standards (Chief Architect owns enterprise standards).
- Override Technical Director decisions or commit delivery externally.
- Redefine cross-team contracts unilaterally.
- Hold final hiring, budget, or cross-vertical prioritization authority.
Success Metrics (First 6–12 Months)
- Predictable sprint delivery and scope commitment accuracy.
- Zero undocumented breaking API changes; backward-compatibility discipline upheld.
- Integration service runtime stability within SLA.
- Code review and engineering-standard compliance within the team.
- Active, structured capability development across team members.
- AI-assisted development adoption across all team members — scoped to approved tooling and your framework's guard rails (named senior reviewer, same review/QA gates).
- Quality of AI-assisted output maintained — defect rate at or below baseline, healthy acceptance rate, no increase in review overhead.
- Active contribution to AI governance and innovation — surfacing blockers, sharing patterns, and feeding structured input into the evaluation/governance process.
