Role Overview
We're looking for a full stack engineer with a strong backend focus to support the development of our proprietary investment technology stack.
This role sits within the core engineering team and focuses on building and maintaining systems that support data processing, portfolio construction, and internal workflows.
Reporting directly to the Head of Quant and COO, you will work closely with the investment and engineering teams, contributing to the development and implementation of the firm's investment systems.
This is not a standard engineering role — technology at Arki is a core driver of investment performance.
What You'll Do
- You will contribute to the development of Arki's proprietary investment platform, supporting the implementation of systems that span from data ingestion to analytics and internal workflows.
- You will design and build scalable backend services for market data processing, portfolio analytics, and system integration, working within the broader architecture defined by the Principal Engineer.
- You will work closely with investment professionals to translate strategies into reliable, production-grade systems, ensuring that data, calculations, and outputs are accurate and consistent.
- You will contribute to the development of data pipelines, portfolio calculation logic, and core APIs that power both internal tools and client-facing applications.
- You will collaborate with the engineering team to maintain system performance, reliability, and scalability, while contributing to code quality, testing, and development standards.
- You will also work across the stack when needed to support integration and delivery, ensuring smooth interaction between backend systems and the product layer.
What We're Looking For
- We are looking for someone with 5 to 8 years of experience in software engineering, with a strong focus on backend development and experience working with data-intensive applications.
- You should be comfortable building and maintaining production systems, with a solid understanding of system design, APIs, and data architecture.
- Proficiency in Python is required, along with the ability to work across the broader application stack when needed.
- Proficiency in NodeJS is required with experience building RESTful or event-driven services and a solid understanding of asynchronous patterns and runtime behaviour.
- Familiarity with frontend technologies such as React, although frontend development will not be the primary focus of the role.
- Experience in quant, trading, or investment-related platforms is preferred, particularly if you have worked with financial data or time-series datasets.
- You should be able to take ownership of your work, operate end-to-end from implementation to deployment, and collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Bonus if you have:
- Exposure to financial markets, alternative data, or analytics tooling
- Experience working with data pipelines or modelling workflows
- Background or interest in AI/ML-driven systems
