We are currently looking for a Finance Controller (6–12 Months Contract). The job descriptions and requirements are detailed below:
Client Information
- Industry: Manufacturing
- Location: Trang Bom, Dong Nai Province
- Transportation: Shuttle bus provided
- Working Hours: 8am – 5pm, including 1 hour lunch break
- Reporting Line: Vietnam General Manager
Key Responsibilities
ERP Implementation and Systems
- Serve as the Finance lead and business owner for the ERP implementation, partnering with IT and the other key stakeholders.
- Own scope, timeline, configuration decisions, data migration, user acceptance testing, training, and cutover for Phase 1 (general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, statutory reporting).
- Help develop and own the Phase 2 roadmap covering manufacturing cost accounting, BOM/MRP integration, and advanced reporting.
Accounting Operations and Financial Reporting
- Lead all general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed asset, and inventory accounting activities.
- Deliver an accurate, timely monthly close package, including financial statements, variance analysis, and management commentary, to U.S. headquarters.
- Prepare and submit statutory financial statements in compliance with Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS), including Circular 200/2014/TT-BTC and current applicable circulars.
- Reconcile VAS-to-U.S. GAAP differences and maintain robust supporting documentation.
Manufacturing Cost Accounting
- Establish and maintain standard costing, including bill-of-material and routing accuracy, labor and overhead absorption, and variance analysis (PPV, MUV, labor, overhead).
- Lead cycle counting and inventory reconciliation programs; manage scrap, rework, and obsolete inventory reserves.
- Partner with operations and supply chain leadership on margin analysis, cost reduction initiatives, and product profitability.
Tax, Treasury, and Compliance
- Manage all Vietnamese tax obligations, including CIT, VAT, FCT, withholding tax, and personal income tax; lead VAT refund processes where applicable.
- Maintain transfer pricing documentation and master files in coordination with headquarters.
- Manage banking relationships, cash forecasting, foreign currency exposure, and working capital.
- Liaise with tax authorities, customs, the Department of Planning and Investment, and other government bodies as needed.
Internal Controls and Audit
- Design, document, and operate internal controls suitable for a private-equity-owned, audited subsidiary.
- Manage the annual external statutory and group audits as the primary point of contact.
- Identify and remediate control gaps proactively.
Planning, Budgeting, and Business Partnering
- Lead the annual budget process and quarterly reforecast for the Vietnam entity.
- Support the weekly Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) cycle with financial input on demand, supply, and inventory decisions.
- Provide finance partnership to the Vietnam General Manager and functional leaders on operational decisions.
Team Leadership
- Lead, develop, and where needed reshape the local accounting team.
- Establish clear roles, performance expectations, and development plans.
- Build a culture of accountability, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Vietnam Chief Accountant Certificate
- Minimum 10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a manager or controller role.
- Demonstrated track record in foreign invested (FDI) manufacturing environments.
- Direct experience leading or co-leading a full-lifecycle ERP implementation in a manufacturing setting — candidates must be able to describe specific platform, scope, timeline, role, and outcomes.
- Strong working knowledge of Vietnamese Accounting Standards (VAS) and either U.S. GAAP or IFRS, including the ability to bridge between them.
- Business-fluent English (written and spoken) sufficient to operate as the primary finance interface with U.S. headquarters.
- Demonstrated experience managing external auditors, tax authorities, and government agencies in Vietnam.
- Advanced Excel proficiency and strong analytical capability.
- Available to start within 30 days of offer acceptance.
