Report to: Sales Finance Manager
The Assistant Finance Manager will provide executional and analytical support to the Sales Finance Manager, focusing on commercial finance, trade spend control, distributor finance, reporting, forecasting, and business partnering.
Key responsibilities:
Trade Spend Management & Commercial Controls
- Validate trade promotion claims, incentives, and sales deductions from distributors.
- Ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies.
- Track trade spends accruals, utilization, and reconciliation versus approved budget.
- Monitor overdue claims and proactively flag financial risks or unusual trends.
- Support resolution of distributor disputes and deduction issues.
- Assist the manager in strengthening governance and reducing financial leakages.
Business Performance Tracking & Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly performance reports, including sell-in, sell-out, trade expenditure, and GTN.
- Analyze key business drivers such as volume, pricing, mix, trade investments, and profitability.
- Support variance analysis versus forecast, budget, and targets.
- Provide insights into risks and opportunities to support commercial decisions.
- Ensure data accuracy and consistency across reporting tools.
Forecasting & Planning Support
- Support monthly rolling forecast and annual budgeting processes.
- Assist in projecting volume, net sales, and trade expenditure.
- Track forecast accuracy and highlight gaps versus actual performance.
- Coordinate with Sales, Demand Planning, and Supply teams to improve forecast quality.
Distributor Finance & AR Management
- Perform distributor balance reconciliation and ensure accuracy of AR positions.
- Monitor collections, overdue balances, and credit exposure.
- Track payment behavior and escalate risks to the Sales Finance Manager.
- Validate and reconcile sell-in versus sell-out data between internal systems and distributors.
- Work closely with Sales teams to resolve discrepancies in sales and collection data.
Business Partnering Support
- Work closely with Sales teams on promotion planning and financial evaluations.
- Support financial validation of commercial initiatives and customer investments.
- Ensure alignment between commercial execution and finance policies.
- Prepare ad-hoc analysis requested by the Sales Finance Manager or business stakeholders.
Data & Process Improvement
- Improve reporting efficiency through automation using Excel, Power BI, SAP, or other tools.
- Standardize templates and simplify reporting processes.
- Ensure data integrity across systems and reports.
- Support ongoing improvements in trade spend tracking and distributor visibility.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Commercial Finance, Sales Finance, FP&A, or Accounting.
- FMCG or consumer goods experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working with distributors, trade expenditure, trade promotion claims, sales deductions, or commercial reporting is an advantage.
- Strong Excel skills are required; Power BI and SAP experience is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Highly detail-oriented, careful, and accurate when working with data, reports, claims, and reconciliation.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret numbers, identify gaps, flag risks, and provide actionable insights.
- Strong control mindset and ability to ensure compliance with policies and processes.
