Core Responsibilities
- Support the NPI team by participating in projects for the implementation and introduction of new equipment, technologies, and product novelties.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) for new technologies.
- Provide training and mentoring to technicians and cross-departmental teams on troubleshooting and equipment optimisation.
- Lead equipment improvement activities and initiatives.
- Implement Engineering Change Requests (ECR) effectively.
- Act as the technology test driver evaluate test results, focus on problem-solving, and drive resolution during overall technology testing.
- Conduct feasibility studies and cost analyses for new equipment and process improvements.
- Adhere to all project management guidelines, particularly the LEGO DQP model.
- Comply with relevant norms, directives, and EHS requirements throughout all activities.
- Support the standardisation of new equipment and drive continuous improvement of existing equipment.
- Facilitate the handover process from R&D to Production.
- Supervise and control technology ramp-up execution, continuously evaluating machine performance and KPI trends.
- Perform root cause analysis and troubleshooting for equipment and process issues.

The NPI department brings together specialists including Installation teams, Industrial Engineers, Equipment Process experts, Process and Project Engineers/Managers, PLC Automation Engineers, 3D Printing specialists, and Factory Layout designers. Our main focus areas are
- Successfully introducing and ramping up new lines and technologies (including unique line installations and handover to production).
- Upgrading standard platforms, processes, and layouts.
- Introducing and validating novelties in current routings.
- Testing improvements to machines, equipment, and processes.
- Collaborating with other sites to share best practices in processes and technologies.
The NPI Equipment Engineer (EE) is a vital member of the NPI team, primarily focused on supporting improvement ideas, design, testing, and development of new technologies and equipment. This role provides expert technical knowledge in project execution and deep understanding of machinery-connected processes. Equipment Engineers typically collaborate on projects with other departments, especially R&D, Maintenance, and Production.
Do You Have What It Takes
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of engineering experience, preferably in equipment development, design, or improvement.
- Proven experience in developing, designing, and enhancing equipment performance.
- Hands-on experience with Kaizen or similar continuous improvement methodologies applied to equipment.
- Experience in procuring, installing, and commissioning new equipment.
- Ability to read, write, and interpret equipment design requirements (e.g., LEGO Technical Specifications).
- Proficiency in reading and understanding technical drawings, including AutoCAD and 3D models.
- Kaizen mindset with a drive for ongoing optimisation.
- Strong ability to master, understand, and specify equipment documentation (e.g., user manuals, technical specs).
- Solid understanding of safety and ergonomic requirements (e.g., Machine Safety Directive, CE marking).
- User-level proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of quality and LEAN tools (advantageous).
- Basic user-level experience with SAP (advantageous).
- Genuine interest in emerging technologies and innovative consumer trends.
- Willingness to travel up to 30 days per year.
