The Engineering Manager is responsible to ensures successful industrialization of new products, drives continuous improvement in safety, quality, cost, and delivery, and supports business growth through strong customer and cross-functional collaboration to ensure operational excellence and sustainable business growth.

Responsibilities

1. New Product Introduction (NPI) & Industrialization

  • Lead end-to-end NPI execution from RFQ, feasibility study, prototyping, pilot build (EVT/DVT/PVT),
  • to mass production ramp-up
  • Drive APQP methodology, including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, and PPAP submissions
  • Ensure manufacturability (DFM/DFA) and cost competitiveness during product design stage
  • Collaborate with Sales, Program Management, and Customers to ensure smooth project transition
  • Manage NPI project timelines, risks, and deliverables to meet commitments

2. Manufacturing Engineering & Process Development

  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for metal fabrication (e.g., stamping, CNC machining,
  • sheet metal, welding, surface treatment, plating, coating, assembly) and plastic injection
  • Define process flow, work instructions, tooling design, and equipment qualification
  • Lead automation and digitalization initiatives to improve quality, cost and consistency
  • Ensure robust process capability (Cp/Cpk) and implement error-proofing (Poka-Yoke) solutions

3. Continuous Improvement & Cost Optimization

  • Drive Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, emerging technologies and Industry 4.0 initiatives across the plant,
  • Lead productivity improvement programs (labor efficiency, machine utilization, cycle time reduction)
  • Identify and execute cost reduction opportunities (VA/VE, material yield, scrap reduction)
  • Establish KPIs and dashboards to track engineering performance

4. Quality & Operational Excellence

  • Partner with Quality team to resolve customer complaints and internal defects
  • Drive root cause analysis (8D, Fishbone, 5 Why) and permanent corrective actions
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems (ISO/IATF, customer-specific requirements)
  • Support audit readiness and customer visits

5. Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Lead and develop Engineering teams (Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, Tooling, NPI

6. Engineers, facilities & maintenance)

  • Build strong technical competency in the team aligned with future business needs
  • Establish clear roles, responsibilities, and performance targets
  • Mentor high-potential engineers and build succession pipeline

7. Cross-functional & Customer Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations, Planning, Supply Chain, Quality, and Project teams
  • Act as key technical interface with customers during NPI and production phases
  • Support RFQ process with cost estimation, process proposal, and technical solutions

Qualifications

Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering
  • Typically 10–15 years of experience in metal manufacturing environment
  • Minimum 5 years in engineering leadership or managerial role
  • Strong hands-on experience in NPI, APQP, and process development
  • Experience with high-mix, low-volume AND ramp-to-volume environment
  • Exposure to Datacom / server / telecom mechanical products
  • Capability to manage multi-site NPI transfer (China → Malaysia / Vietnam, etc.)
  • Strong background in cost-down roadmap and margin improvement

Technical Skills

  • Metal & Plastic Injection tooling & process: stamping, machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding,
  • plating, coating, assembly
  • NPI tools: DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP
  • Lean, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt preferred)
  • CAD/CAM, process simulation, and industrial engineering tools
  • Familiarity with automation, Industry 4.0, or smart manufacturing is an advantage

  • Good at English, Chinese speaking is prefer.

  • First-pass yield & defect rate
  • Productivity improvement (%) and cost savings
  • Process capability (Cp/Cpk performance)
  • Engineering cost control vs. budget
  • Customer satisfaction / complaint reduction
