Job Description
We are looking for an execution-focused Engineering Manager to own engineering delivery across our mobile, backend, and AI systems. This role is accountable for predictable timelines, delivery quality, and team execution health. You will manage engineers, drive sprint execution, enforce delivery discipline, and remove risks that threaten commitments.
You will operate in an AI-native environment and are expected to use agentic workflows as practical tools to improve speed, quality, and reliability not as experiments, but as part of how delivery gets done.
What You'll Do / Responsibilities
- Manage and develop a team of engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, coaching, and performance support.
- Own day-to-day engineering execution, including sprint planning, delivery commitments, and release timelines.
- Enforce disciplined backlog management, sprint execution, and delivery tracking using Jira (or equivalent).
- Translate product goals into clear, executable engineering plans with well-scoped tickets and realistic timelines.
- Identify delivery risks early (dependencies, scope creep, capacity gaps, technical debt) and act decisively to mitigate them.
- Maintain delivery predictability by balancing scope, capacity, and technical constraints.
- Drive cross-functional execution with Product, QA, and Engineering to ensure high-quality, on-time releases.
- Uphold strong standards for code quality, testing, automation, and system reliability.
- Facilitate technical decision-making together with senior engineers and tech leads.
- Apply AI-assisted and agentic workflows to reduce cycle time, improve testing coverage, and remove execution bottlenecks.
- Continuously improve delivery processes, workflows, and team effectiveness as product complexity grows.
Requirements
Professional / Technical Skills
- 510+ years of software engineering experience, with 24+ years in an engineering management or technical leadership role.
- Proven track record of owning engineering delivery outcomes end-to-end.
- Experience working in AI-native teams where AI or LLM systems are core to the product or engineering workflow.
- Strong understanding of sprint execution, delivery management, and timeline ownership.
- Hands-on familiarity with Python-based backend systems (FastAPI, Flask, or Django).
- Familiarity with mobile application development using Flutter or similar frameworks.
- Strong understanding of testing, automation, and quality-first engineering practices.
- Experience using Jira (or similar tools) to manage backlogs, sprints, and delivery tracking.
- Comfortable using AI and agentic workflows as part of day-to-day engineering execution.
- Experience working closely with Product Managers to turn product intent into shipped outcomes.
- Background in fast-paced, product-driven, or startup environments.
