Our client is a leading Food manufacturer and exporter and a member of a global group. The facility, based in Long An Province, is a large Food manufacturer serving the US, EU and Asian markets to strict international food-safety and customer-audit standards.
Role Summary
Lead the Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) function for the manufacturing facility. The role is accountable for building and sustaining a strong safety culture, ensuring full compliance with Vietnamese occupational-safety, fire-prevention and environmental legislation, and meeting the SHE standards of the parent group and international customers. It carries direct responsibility for the significant industrial hazards typical of a cannery — ammonia refrigeration, steam and pressure systems, retort / thermal processing, chemical handling and cold storage — and leads a dedicated SHE team.
Key Responsibilities
SHE Management Systems & Compliance
- Develop, implement and maintain SHE management systems aligned to ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety) and ISO 14001 (Environmental).
- Ensure full compliance with Vietnamese law — the Law on Occupational Safety & Hygiene, the Labour Code, fire prevention & fighting (PCCC), environmental protection and related decrees and circulars.
- Maintain all permits, licences, registrations and statutory reporting (labour safety, environmental monitoring, hazardous waste and related obligations).
- Keep the site continuously audit-ready for group, regulatory, certification and customer social / ethical audits (e.g. Sedex / SMETA, BSCI).
Risk & Hazard Management
- Lead hazard identification, risk assessment (HIRA / JSA) and control across all plant areas.
- Manage high-risk assets and activities: ammonia (NH3) refrigeration systems, boilers and steam / pressure equipment, retorts / autoclaves, confined spaces, working at height, chemical and hazardous-substance handling, cold storage and machine guarding.
- Own the permit-to-work system and contractor safety management.
Incident & Emergency Management
- Lead incident and accident investigation, root-cause analysis and corrective / preventive actions; track leading and lagging SHE indicators.
- Manage emergency preparedness and response — plans, equipment, evacuation, and ammonia-release and fire drills.
Environmental Management
- Oversee wastewater treatment, emissions, solid and hazardous waste, water and energy use, and environmental monitoring and reporting.
- Drive environmental-improvement and resource-efficiency initiatives.
Culture, Training & Leadership
- Build a proactive safety culture at all levels; design and deliver SHE training and onboarding.
- Lead, coach and develop the SHE team; advise plant leadership and department heads.
- Report SHE performance and KPIs to factory and group management.
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 8+ years EHS / SHE experience in manufacturing (food, FMCG, chemical or similar), with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 implementation and internal / lead-auditor experience. NEBOSH / IOSH or equivalent is an advantage.
- Professional working English.
